2006 Cobalt 282 Reupholstering

Post by Markus »

Hi, Has anyone taken the all cushions (including side cushioning) off their Cobalt 282 or one similar in size to be reupholstered? Not to be redundant but it is a 2006 model. My marina, who is not a Cobalt dealer, said 25 - 40 labor hours just to remove all cushions, then about the same to put back in. 50 - 80 hours of marina labor is seemingly a lot of time and cost.

Thanks,
Markus

That is crazy, around here they are getting $195 per hour. That is 9k to 15k and that does not include the upholstery work. It's definitely not difficult to do, just nuts, bolts, and screws. I helped a buddy strip his 200 in about four hours. (Did not include the dash) I would say that most marina labor is banking on people that don't do their own work and price repairs based on the word BOAT. Also when people quote jobs high it means they don't really want to do the work thus you will get crappy work for the $$$$$$ you spend.
