Oil pressure gauge reads 80 at key on
Oil pressure gauge reads 80 at key on
As stated in the title, the oil pressure gauge in my 2007 272 with the 496MAG reads 80 ay key on, and engine on. Never moves. Assumed sender was bad and replaced with OEM Quicksilver gauge based on serial number, and no change. Going to check the connections at the back of the gauge for corrosion. Any other ideas for things to check?
Re: Oil pressure gauge reads 80 at key on
**Update:
New sender reads 239ohms. Tested wire from sender to gauge and has good continuity. Based on Faria testing procedures, appears gauge may be bad. Only get a max of 159ohm through the gauge, but it still stays pegged at key on and engine on. Ran a jumper from sender to gauge with harness wire disconnected and it still read 80 plus.
Now I just need to find this gauge…

Thanks for the update.
That may be a tough gauge to find based upon the eBay completed listings for the last year.

Have you tried reaching out to Faria to see if they can repair? They did my tach some years back but I am not sure if they still provide the service.

Not yet. I’ll try to get in touch with them tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks for the reply.
