Cleaner advice
Who still uses Starbrite Sea Safe Bilge Cleaner. Looking for feedback on using this or any bilge cleaner, benefits, downside or negatives, if you do use it how often do you use it, etc. Any general guidance or recommendations would be appreciated.

Re: Cleaner advice
It certainly works, but in my experience being able to scrub a bit makes a bigger difference, even if it's just a brush on a stick.

Re: Cleaner advice
I use Gunk degreaser (spray), let it sit about 15 minutes, then power wash. Works great.
Re: Cleaner advice
If you look at the MSDS of the Starbrite bilge cleaner, it's active ingredients are isopropyl alcohol and sulfuric acid so any kind of cleaner that uses something similar will work.
Personally, I just use simple green and a scrub brush.

Re: Cleaner advice
I have not found the "Bilge Cleaners" to be any better than a cleaner like Spray9 or even Dawn - just more expensive.

Re: Cleaner advice
I'll second the "specialty cleaners" not being worth the $$$. I tried some West marine Non skid cleaner. It was useless. I've also tried starbrite Mildew remover.....useless. My go to cleaners are:
Turtle wax slick & slide car wash for the outside.
Comet cleanser and a scrub brush for the non skid
a little bit of Dawn and warm water for the seats.
If I get any mildew on seats, a very diluted mix of liquid soft scrub and water to spot clean the upholstery. Rinse quickly and liberally with water
Stoner autoglass cleaner for the windshield.
Simple green anywhere there is a fluid leak, such as the bilge.
It works for me.

"a little bit of Dawn and warm water for the seats."
Same here.
For tough spots, I use OxiClean upholstery foam. Let sit about a minute, gently brush. Works great.
