I dont know what engine UHaul puts in their rental F150's I bet it was the 3.3L N/A V6 which would account for the 6,000 max tow rating.

Good news is Ford dropped the 3.3 N/A out of the F150 lineup so the base in any F150 is now the 2.7 Ecoboost. Enough to tow your R5 next time you need it.
No such choices where I live. I did check under the hood and found there to be a V8. Being a 2WD I just make sure I pick a nice day so the ramp isn't as slippery. No problems so far!

Huh, good to know. Shouldnt feel bad about beating up the rental 5.0 V8 at all...

Nice FS! Level and coordinated.
How do you like the rear view camera mirror option while towing?

The 7700lb towing capacity in the Q7/Touareg/Cayenne is such a strength of those vehicles - I wish other midsize SUV manufacturers would take note and beef up their offerings (e.g., BMW X5).

I will be doing the same with my R5 and new Rivian R1T this summer.

How does it tow? Just got a new Anderson weight distributing hitch to tow it. I have EOH brakes so will have a lithium battery in the bed of the truck powering the brakes.

You using a WDH?

It tows really well. With the instant torque it’s effortless to get moving, but the weight of this boat doesn’t let you forget it’s there. I’m not even sure it realized my old CS23 was there, which was great, but not when I also forgot it was there.

I don’t use a WDH, just a solid hitch and ball rated to 17k. Don’t take that as an endorsement though, more so my stupidity as I only tow around town and don’t have EOH brakes at this point.

You’ll love the truck! I recommend the tri or quad motor versions, as there is no reason a truck should rip 0-60 in 3 seconds or less, but it’s highly entertaining. With that being said, the new GEN2 Performance Dual Motor is no slouch either.

Yeah...manual says anything over 5000# towed or 500# tongue weight requires a WDH so I will do that. I am only going a short way but prefer to go with the specs.

Already have the R1T. Great vehicle! I have a regular dual motor.

Just be aware that some trailer manufacturers specifically say to NOT use weight distributing hitches. My trailer (Venture) would have its warranty voided if I used one. YMMV

No problem with mine.

Not surprised that Venture would say that....would never buy one on purpose.

Here is mine. 360 Cobalt behind a Sierra EV. Before I get roasted for this it goes less than a mile down a flat street at 20mph. However the electric truck pulls this effortlessly. I used to do this with a diesel 3500 and the electric truck has so much more low end torque.
