Run engine without gauges?

Post by mdadgar »

Anyone know if a Cobalt (2013 A25, in my case) will fire up and run without the factory gauges plugged in?

I want to get my gauges refurbished (faded LCDs) but the Gaugesavers.com lead time is 4-5 weeks, so that's also in the window that I need to get the boat serviced and stuff.

Thanks!

Never tried it, but I dont see why they wouldn't.

Our Garmin's take some time to boot up....so each start up the engine is running for a bit without the gauges being up and fully working.

I would be concerned not being able to monitor items like engine temp fuel and RPM but I believe the engine will run fine w/o them.

Unplug them and start it up prior to pulling them and shipping them out?

Excellent point.

This is probably the thing to do.

I was just wondering how integrated they actually are, but it sounds like "not very."

When I was having issues with my Garmins, I just used my laptop hooked with my Rinda software to monitor the engine.
