Power Steering Fluid

Post by 2halloween »

I have a sea star hydraulic steering system on my 2018 25SC. I have been checking my manuals (I just bought this boat used) and cannot find where I would fill the power steering fluid. Any ideas?

Usually filled at the helm. He uses a SeaStar system in the video.

I have a 25 SC. I'm sure I saw the fill on the Steering column. I thought I saw it when was cleaning and looked up behind the panel. You want to fill at the highest point in the system to get the air out.

Like Alex said it must be on the back side of that. Like he says they put it at the highest point for getting air out.

I have a 2019 25 SC I purchased last July from a private seller. There is a hissing sound when turning the wheel regardless of speed. Marine mechanics have looked at it twice, bled the system and even changed a hose that was on the PS pump that they reported had the wrong fitting per a service bulletin. Is this normal?? Anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

Regarding my previous (power steering) post with the hissing when turning the wheel at any speed- Engine is a 300 Mercury Verado

So glad you found us, bwh. A slight hissing sound is normal for these outboards. If it’s excessive then there may be air trapped in the system. You mentioned it was bled so I’m guessing the hissing you’re hearing is normal.

Any pics? And welcome aboard mate.
