Fully restored vintage 1985 CM23 for sale -again- $18,700

Post by MidwestVintage »

Yep, that fully restored 85' CM23 from Nolaboater99 is back, back for sale, and better than ever. I'm sure you might have some questions so let me introduce myself and maybe explain whats going on.

My names Ben, and as it happens, am a friend of Shawns(nolaboater99). I knew about his restored Cobalt and was thinking of buying it the first time he listed it. I wasn't fast enough and so when that buyer decided to he wanted a pontoon instead and asked nolaboater99 to resell it for him, I jumped. I've been the owner of the CM23 since. Shortly after I bought it, I relocated the boat to west Michigan where it remains to this day. Now, 5 years later, my kids are older and lives busier and so I think its time for a change. These 40 year old classic boats DO NOT like to sit. She needs to be used and I'm sure some one out there will love this machine as much as Shawn did, and I do now.

I keep her indoors in my pole barn, with heat in the winters. My family has used the boat extensively over the years, even so,I have continued the restoration work Shawn started, though, most of my work is in the electrical and mechanical end of things. Here's a small list of the work I have done.

The 383 Stroker has been completely rebuilt, including full planing of heads and block. Competition cam with flat top pistons and stainless 2.02 valves. Shes..throaty. New driveshaft bushing. The newly rebuilt motor, about 375-425 HP, spun the old one first time out. New prop shaft and had the stainless midrange prop reconditioned. New oil cooler. New impeller. Added an expansion tank to the closed loop cooling system. Electrically, I replaced both batteries. One 800 amp, one 1000 amp. A new chrome GM 1 wire high output alternator. I think 160 amp. Some wiring and put in a new stereo head unit. Wireless bluetooth and all that. There is a new Seastar Xtreme binicle with throttle and shift, and trim control.

I put four new tires on the Pacific trailer once I got it to Michigan. I took the best of the original 4, and made it a spare. All the trailer lights were upgraded to waterproof LEDs. No need to unplug before backing it in. I bought a new 8ft bimini good for 45MPH, and a brand new towable rated boat cover just now, for the sale.

More photos coming, I guess we only get 5 per post
