First Time Cobalt Owner

Post by LakeWhitneyCobalt »

My family had outgrown our old 18-foot Sea Ray so I just picked up a 2007 232 and absolutely love it.

It's pretty dang clean throughout but has a couple of things I'd like to fix. If anyone has a link to a parts diagram or advice on best place to locate parts I would appreciate it.

Parts will be hard to come by, as Cobalt doesn't provide parts for boats that old. If you have specific items you're working on, lots of folks here know who made what parts for Cobalt as OEMs, or how to best repair/replace various parts.

One good source for "random" Cobalt parts has been https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/

Cobalt doesn't really have repair manuals or parts manuals for their boats, but the original owner's manuals can be downloaded from their website. See: https://cobaltboats.com/art/manuals/2007_232_OM.pdf

The push button for the interior lights sticks in the on position, so I was hoping to replace it. I haven’t been able to find one online yet. I may take it apart and see if I can fix it.

I was also hoping to replace this plastic piece on the rear starboard side. It’s still fully functional, but it was originally white and has faded to a beige color

I think you have different switches than I do. Mine are old style toggle switches. Maybe check this thread for the newer style:

The trim pieces will be hard to find. You might have to paint it or refinish it.
