2004 Cobalt 262 engine hatch lifts?

Post by ChelanCobalt »

My hydraulic system has gone out and I believe I just nees to replace those cylinders. Has this happened to anybody else and have your sourced the part or do you have the part number? Looking for a cost effective solution to this-- it sucks having to manually lift the hatch. Very heavy!

Atwood and Taylor Made have both made cylinders for Cobalts, and maybe others. Best bet is to look at the cylinder carefully for a manufacturer/model number. If that fails, measure the length of the rod open and closed, and you can probably get real close.

So glad you found us, cc.

I never had to replace the engine hatch hydraulic struts. When you stated, "My hydraulic system has gone out", do you mean they are leaking? They use the fluid from the trim pump. Is that pump working? Any pics?

And welcome aboard mate.

I have a 220 and replaced the struts a few years back. Very easy to do and takes barely any time. A thread here:
