Replace SeaDeck or leave it off swimdeck

Post by billk2632 »

The SeaDeck on my R5 swim deck is showing it's age after 10yrs - it's held up pretty good, but it's time to do something. I think I am going to remove it myself (I know probably a tedious job) and see how I like it without anything. The SeaDeck get's incredibly hot, we constantly pour water over it in the summer. I like the way it looks - especially the newer design that is a lighter grey - but don't think I will mind going bare non skid - plus it is not cheap to replace. It certainly will be cooler, will just have to see how it looks after I remove it. What is everyone's thoughts? FYI I have seagrass in the rest of the boat, not really a problem with heat there, just the SeaDeck on the swimdeck.

I was going to order SeaDek on my boat, and my dealer talked me out of it for the reasons others here have noted - it doesn't age all that well, and makes your boat look old before anything else on the boat. I have a bare rear deck and swim step, and it's just fine.
