Battery question on Cobalt 220 1995

Post by Dave G »

The 220 has 2 batteries. I replaced battery #2 thinking battery was dead (as nothing was working). Battery #1 is working fine. With new battery, there is still nothing working. Is there a fuse that perhaps is causing this or something else simple? Out of ideas. Thanks!

There should always be one or more breakers between the battery and any load devices. We'd have to know how your batteries are wired to be sure, but there's a good chance there's a breaker or a battery disconnect switch somewhere that's part of the problem.

No intention to offend, but do you have a multimeter?

No office taken and no I do not have that. I may have figured out what's going on. From everything I have read, all Cobalts had battery #1 on the port side. It appears my boat is reversed. I disconnected the battery on the port side, set the switch on #1 run and everything ran. May have swapped out the wrong battery although both are 4 years old. One more test tomorrow should give me the answer.
