There is no doubt that them driving in the left lane is dangerous. Forcing folks to weave in and out of traffic while you cruise ideally along at the posted speed limit in the left lane is just dumb. I always think to myself, why can't this person see cars whizzing by on their right almost clipping their bumper to get back in lane? I just don't understand, it has to be a "screw you" to the rest of the world. I can't be bothered to turn on my turn signal and turn the wheel to the right to get out of the traffic flow... I'm special.

I think we are ok with that here in PA—as long as they have the S.A. to know what’s coming behind them and get over in time.
Some just want the extra reaction time when deer jump out from the woods on the right side.

Most here don't, they don't realize you are behind until you've already slowed down and are right there. Then they signal for about 3 miles, finally move over, then immediately whip back to the left lane after you pass

We finally have a left lane law that went into effect on Nov 1st. Now in Oklahoma if you hang out in the left lane and hold up traffic they can fine you $240.

It's gotten pretty bad with left lane drivers here so they put up signs last spring and warned everyone they would start writing tickets on Nov 1st. It drives me nuts when someone is running along next to someone in the right lane holding up a 1/4 mile of traffic behind them, especially when it goes on for 10 or 15 miles. Texas and Missouri are pretty bad as well.

It has gotten much better. There's still a few folks that are clueless but hopefully they'll get the message. Or a ticket..

This is just me, but I think big rigs should have to be at least one lane to the right of the fast lane unless there’s an accident. In Houston city limits, they enforce that rule, but as soon as they can, they’ll pass on the left, but not speed up like the rest of us. So they may end up only going 1 or 2 miles per hour faster than the person they’re passing. People get so frustrated that they do some really illegal things to get around them (i.e. pass on the shoulder). If there’s no one behind them for like a mile, they can pass, but not if their are 20 cars passing and they happen to find a gap in between them. I definitely would like to see a law passed that if the lane to the right of the passing lane is going at, or a mile or two below what you are driving, you shouldn’t be in the passing lane unless you are going to speed up and go around them, not continue at your same 1-2 mph faster.

My wife said semi-trucks should be banned from the roads.

Saw a bumper sticker on a semi that said “if you don’t like trucks, don’t order packages. “ .
I pointed that out to her and she got quiet.

...and when they pullover to pass at 1 - 2 mph, it drives me nuts too. It’s almost inevitable when you are coming up on them to pass—they pull over to “spite” you.

I used to live in Katy back in the 90’s! I kept moving in a clockwise pattern as traffic got worse. Now it looks like I’m just going to need to move further north.

The problem there can be directly pointed to selfish drivers.
Unlike owner operators, or trucks in the past, big rigs today are all tuned for fuel mileage. The single most important ingredient in making money is fuel mileage, and speed costs fuel..
So, company trucks are all governed to a top speed of around 67-68 mph. The drivers simply don’t care who is behind them, as long as they don’t have to lose momentum.
