Found the bottom of the river inlet this morning Had Navionics up and was in what looked like the deep part of the channel, guess things moved from the last update. Just a sandbar with really soft sand, so no harm done. Cruising along and saw the bottom, did probably the worst thing possible and cut throttle and dug the skeg in the sand when the boat came off plane. Shut off engine to avoid sucking in anything, trailered the drive and had to get in and push the boat off the sandbar. Water was probably 2 ft deep tops. Checked prop, all good, boat still runs fine so I don't think I sucked anything up. Have to see if I scraped off any of my new paint job off the skeg when we pull the boat out Monday. Probably not going to attempt that again lol

As I said.. been there!! Look for bouys that de show the path.. usually left of the fork..

Now just check your water flow at idle with the exhaust thru hull and you should be fine.

Yes you sand blasted the skeg but your a fab painter!!

Ouch. Glad no damage done. Better sand then rocks. Yep first instinct is to pull back but we boat in shallow all the time so yep stay on plane. Also helps when you can't see the bottom in two feet of water.lol

I went back later on my own. Found the area with the buoys and started to idle through (it's marked as no wake). Got to a point where I could see the bottom pretty clear and saw 2.5 feet on the depth finder and chickened out. Kicked up a pretty good cloud of muck when I reversed. I even watched a couple boats go through there but still wasn't up for it. Oh well.

Lol I was watching the bottom get clearer and clearer and just freaked. I think the skeg was just barely in the sand after I trailered the drive, it was really easy to push it off. Water came about halfway up my thighs when I got in, good thing it wasn't any higher or I'd be talking a few octaves higher I had long basketball warmup type pants on, made wifey put the camera phone away since I had to strip down to get in. She got a pic before that, I'll get it from her and post.

Ran the boat wide open later in the day and it stayed under 175 and still ran 59 so she's all good might need a paint touch-up but no big deal there.

So this was just after we got stuck yesterday, and right before my pants came off. I was surveying the surroundings to see who was going to get to see me in my skivvies Wish I had let Jody keep taking pics when I was standing on the sand bar pushing. If you look close at the water above her head you can kinda see some color variation... that's the weeds/grass mixed with sand on the bottom.

You know when we go boating we like to wear a swim suit. I think if recall this correctly that you have jumped in now twice without a suit. Not that I'm counting. Just saying I would start wearing a suit.lol just think the water temperature your jumping into is the warmest our water gets.lol

Maybe that's the trick, as long as I have a swimsuit on we won't have any troubles I think the river is off the table this trip, I'm not brave enough to try it
