Prospective Owner
Re: Prospective Owner
Might not be the right place but I'm thinking about seadek for the swim platform. Don't see any 212 application on the Seadek Web site. Is the 212 swim platform the same as another Cobalt model that might be listed?
I have sent Seadek a inquiry but haven't got a response yet.

Re: Prospective Owner
I want to add SeaDek as well. The other popular option is aquamarinedeck.com, which I believe is what YT used on his 240. I was planning on ordering the template kit in March so that I can get my platform and side entry mocked up in late April when I have access to my 212.
I’m pretty sure the 212 and 222 have the same platform, but we would need someone to compare dimensions. NautiGirl is getting her platform on her 2007 222 templated for SeaDek. Believe she is working with SCWake on the project. Maybe she can help?
Keep in mind that an ‘07 212 is the same as an ‘09+ 222.

Re: Prospective Owner
Curious since you are in KY too, where you took the boat for inspection... Even though we have a Merc, its just nice to know of good places close by.MAP53 wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2018 5:42 pm Well after what seems like forever with subfreezing temps I finally got the pre purchase inspection done today. I called several places but only one insisted that the boat be water tested as well as pulling the drive and checking the gimbal bearings and alignment and doing a compression check. They said that you really need to put a load on the engine and drive to tell the whole story. This particular place is also the only Volvo Penta authorized service facility in the area since the Cobalt dealer closed up around Christmas.
The tech who did the inspection has over 20 years working on Volvos, he was impressed with the boat and was a wealth of knowledge. I learned a lot just today. I now have a go to person/place to get work done that means a lot. I had been a little nervous about the lack of Volvo service compared to Merc.
So everything went very well except we had to dodge all the trash in the Ohio river. The Cobalt runs super and seems very very solid. I did have them change the plugs since they were original from 2007.
It's been 3 years since the impeller has been done and not sure about the fuel filter. Needless to say I am buying this boat. I think that before springtime I will have the oil changed and the lower unit oil as well and the impeller and fuel filter. I need to install a transom trim switch and probably will replace at least one of the batteries since they are 5 years old.
So I should have it tucked away next Friday just waiting for warm weather. Thanks for all the advice I am looking forward to enjoying my new used 212.

Re: Prospective Owner
My question is you went boating in January on the Ohio and Nauti's is sitting in the garage sleeping. Good job or your nuts
Congrats on the purchase. Do either of you have a good shot of your swim platform?

Re: Prospective Owner
I took the boat to Arnold's Boat and Motors in Louisville on River Road close to Zorn Ave. Tony is the owner and very helpful (and busy). The tech who checked my boat was Kevin.
Re: Prospective Owner
Well it wasn't exactly "boating" it was more like spend 15 minutes dodging large logs. The temp was about 55 though, we just put the boat in long enough to let it warn up slowly while we were checking operation of everything and a couple of short full power runs.Big Block Power wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:45 pm My question is you went boating in January on the Ohio and Nauti's is sitting in the garage sleeping. Arnold's and Tony are awesome. I used them before with my 190 when I kept it at home for a few years. They have been in business a long time and that's why!MAP53 wrote: Sat Jan 27, 2018 5:26 am I took the boat to Arnold's Boat and Motors in Louisville on River Road close to Zorn Ave. Tony is the owner and very helpful (and busy). Re: Prospective Owner
Rumor is that they might be the Cobalt dealer in the future or possibly Marine Sales and Service also on River Road.NautiGirl wrote: Sat Jan 27, 2018 6:16 amArnold's and Tony are awesome. Re: Prospective Owner
Mark, know your area well. Have used Right Stop rv near you for years. We are just off Rt 44 about 3 miles east of I-65.
At the boat show Thursday, I talked to Harold (owner of Marine Sales & Service) & he had heard that a dealer out of Florida was trying to get the Cobalt dealer. I wish Harold would get it as he is such a nice guy.
Glad to hear your comments about Arnold's. Have never tried them but the Boating Center told me they were a certified Volvo dealer. That's probably where I'll go now.
Love the yellow color of your boat-looks great.

Re: Prospective Owner
Jeff or Katie who ever is typing this time you can add a 9 inch or so stainless grab handle to it. Mine doesn't have it either.NautiGirl wrote: Sat Jan 27, 2018 6:21 amHere is ours.... I’d like to add the grab bar. Must have been optional as mine doesn’t have it either.

It's pretty easy to do. Just drill two holes.
