Was it a rocket out of the hole? Yes sounds slow for what the other guys are getting. Did it hit the rev limiter?
I don't think propping is going to be your issue then. Each pitch you go up will gain maybe 2-3 mph and drop your rpm 2-300 or so rpm.

Just for s.... and giggles I put a upper 1.81 gear set in...... and went for a cruise on the prop calculator.

Being we spend 99 % of our time at a cruise rpm I thought i would show you the difference at a cruise speed of 3300 rpm which is where I travel mostly. In the mean time have fun as your pics are great and that is one sharp 262!!!

thunder550 wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2018 4:25 pm Yeah I agree, there's definitely no rush on this other than what your personal preferences and patience level are. Get the boat home and run it a few times, see what your usage is like. If it doesn't bother you, keep it as-is. If it's marginal, do the props. If you hate it, do the rebuild or try to find a good used B3 lower with the 1.81 gears that you can just swap out and sell your existing one to recoup part of the cost. Maybe you could even get lucky enough to find someone moving a boat from low elevation to Tahoe or something who would be up for a trade.
After running the boat three times this weekend, I know 50mph at 5100rpm bug the bajeesus out of me.
At about 4000 rpm I’m running 40 mph which is ok but slow moving at times.
And if the sweet spot for gas consumption is 3500 rpm I’d certainly rather see better tha 35 mph all over the river.
What speeds are you guys seeing at 3500 and 4000 rpm?
I’d love to run 45-50 mph at 4000rpm:-)

From what I remember my tach matched my speed as well in the 30-40mph range.

Well we don't have any snow here. The lake well I hope it's melting I haven't been out there lately. The rivers are wide open.

Ya, the 50 degree sunshine is helping today. Unfortunately, it's not goin' to last. Fixed my mother-in-law's snow blower today due to a broken fuel line. She is now ready for the next wave of snow.

Great pics! As much as I miss the East coast culture and food.. I don't miss the weather. You should remember the spot you took that picture and retake a summer one with the same angle.!!!
