I think if I tried to back in I’d destroy the props bouncing off the lift lolYtmsn wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:56 amHey now! What about Cobalt262? He needs some love too!AsLan7 wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2018 10:16 am.ph2ocraft wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2018 9:41 am Thanks
I’m actually going to move the skis on the right further back in the slip and then fill the entire forward Area with decking so I have a platform for tables and chairs on the water.
When I get my 40 footer (never), I’ll just remove the decking and put in another lift.
Did I mention that you and Ytmsn are my two favorite fellow 262 owner’s. .![]()
And I definitely have lift envy! I'm headed back to the lake on Feb 9th. I'm hoping they have started construction of the new slips by then. I should be getting a new slip and lift this spring and I'm thinking of having them install the long arm version so I can back into my slip. It sure would make it nice when it comes to boarding and putting the cover back on. We'll see..

She’s on the lift but if I have room, I’ll lower the bunks so the boat sits a little lower.

Glad you got the wheel straight.
How does the lift work? Just pump air into the pontoon looking things? How long does it take to lift and submerge?

Pho20 the lift arms have to be extended to back in. The lift sets lower in the water so the prop clears when backing in. I don't know if the marina is gonna let me do it that way yet. I'll find out when I talk to the installer.
Thunder a Hydro or similar lift pumps in air to lift and water to sink. It just takes a few minutes going either way. The pump will be mounted at the head of the slip normally.

Thanks for the explanation. Goal for either 2019 or 2020 is to slip our boat up at Pleasant, will definitely be doing a lift if a slip becomes a reality. Trying to learn a little bit about them in the meantime.Ytmsn wrote: Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:28 pm Pho20 the lift arms have to be extended to back in. Re: First Impression 03 262
We would love to have a slip and a lift... They are nice I was able to borrow a friend's lift for a few weeks knew summer with thr 190...so convenient... Walk the dock, flip the switch and roll. Just hard to justify that cost of convenience with a lift purchase and yearly slip fees when compared to a storage shed two miles up the road...we will just keep launching our boat each weekend. #realworldproblemsthunder550 wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:17 amThanks for the explanation. Re: First Impression 03 262
I have a slip at our lake but my lift is old. For my old boat (prior to my 240) it was fine capacity-wise, but it needs new pins and bushings and its bent from some jakeleg putting to big of boat on it prior to me. I was putting my 240 on it every weekend, but launched and loaded every time because I don't trust it setting on there throughout the week. So I'm going to sell it or probably just give it to the marina.
Then along comes my 262. More weight and too long for my 25 foot slip, so I continued to launch and load every weekend and tie up to the dock last fall.
This winter the marina is supposed to be building 10 new slips and I'm getting one with a new lift.
@TableRockin, you can buy a specific weight ratio lift for whatever you need but I'm sure you already know that.
@ Thunder, if you look at used lifts be sure it will hold your boat up. Take into account your boat weight, full fuel weight as well as gear and people. My current lift is a 6,000 lb. unit and my new one will be at least 8,000 lbs., or maybe a 10,000 lb. just in case I ever move up to a twin 282 some day.
When I grow up I want to be like Matt...

Absolute quality throughout other than the plastic cup holders.
I changed those out to stainless today, so, so much nicer.
Those stainless steel cup holders really dress it up nice. I definitely have to do that to mine! What brand/make did you end up going with? Thanks
I didn’t like the style available from amazon etc as the top ring sits flat on the surface.
The little imperfections in the plastic and vynil doesn’t allow the edge to sit flush-it bothered me. A couple days later I observed the stainless cup holders in my recliner from Macy’s was crowned and no matter the imperfection in materials the cup holder seals perfectly at the outer edge.
This also allowed me to put a few dabs of silicone between the cup holder and mating surface.
Perfect fit.

All the hoist talk has me remembering my many hoists and the excessive strain I did to them.
Rule of thumb . Bunks need to be exceeding the hull by an inch in the rear transom. (don't want to grow a hook in the hull ).
Run your boat low as you can on the bunks and most outdrive skegs need to be trim upped regardless.
And lastly, if you're wondering the capacity. Just do what I did going from my 18 fourwinns to a 230 sea ray.. (have about 6 people get on the boat while it's on the hoist and take a gander at the squat and or stability.
My current hoist Is a 12,000. More than I need but It's nice having the extra capacity and length.
