Soliciting opinions on boat

Aslan - dont they have that option on new boats now? Last time I farted around on their website it seemed like there was every color imaginable. I still love that powder blue look.

So my marina/Table Rock cobalt dealer The Harbor is going to be on the lookout for me as well. And they will trade in my boat if I wish. I'll probably just sell it myself though I think. I'm thinking there will be lots to choose from soon post boat shows. KC was last week I think and STL is a week away.

I wouldn't wait on the Harbor to find you something. After I missed out on the boat Ytmsn bought I told them to hunt me down a 2001+ 262 and I never heard from them.

But the STL boat show is next weekend so you never know. I was thinking about going down there and looking around. and I believe Springfield has theirs presidents day weekend.

Well thats disappointing to hear. They actually reached out to me after i contacted them with boat lift questions. So well see i guess. Usually people that buy at shows have something to trade in and ive got time.

That FL 2012 276 has a contract offer on it. Just heard from her tonight. Told her id go 69k assuming pics come back good but meh....i just really started looking and this would almost feel too fast!

That's right. Read the thread on "Looking for a 262". This forum and these guys and gal had a lot of fun helping me search. I didn't think it would be as quick as it was..All along I knew when the right one came along I'd know. I figured it would take a long time.

IMO buying used is a fickle business depending on the supply of what your looking for. You could hold out for months looking for what you want at a given price point or it could popup within days of beginning the search. Yes other boats will pop up but that doesnt mean pouncing on one is a bad move. For me right now my only concern is am i 100% certain a 276 is what i want....or is it a 262....or should i hope beyond all hope a A28 or R7 comes around in my price point. Im certainly comfortable passing on that 276 but id be pretty damn excited if i got it as well. Meh...time will tell.

I wanted a 220 with a bb. So I started and flipped a few 5.7's not sure I even put a few of them in the water. But then a 1 owner 8.1gi came up and boom I just bought it site unseen. I thought I was going to keep that boat forever ok who was I kidding lol
It was white with a blue boot stripe. Classic Cobalt. Then boom at end of the year the black beauty popped up with the gxi. Bought pretty much site unseen.

Ok so maybe buy a 262 there are more of them and watch for the 276. You never know as you may just be perfectly happy with it. These boats sell so easy so why not no risk no reward. Lol

After some further research i think i prefer the 276. Its 2 feet longer than the 276 on centerline. I know the
platform plays into that a bit since its integrated into the hull but still. Plus ive seen pics of a 276 with an extended platform with the flipdown step.....ho boy....yes please!

Back in 03’, I found my first boat as a year old repo online. The Marina in Grand Island had it for a day and my salesman didn’t even know it was in stock from the repoing bank.

I knew zero about boats. We just had the idea of buying a family boat, and I got on it and found one that fit on the very first day of looking.
Drove up there. Saw it, loved it, offered a light number. Back and forth for about 30 seconds. I phoned my wife that we just became the owners of a pretty nice Chaparral. She was like..what?
It all felt very right, and it was.
We picked it up the next day. We owned it for 13 worry free years.

Anyone who knows me knows that’s not how I usually do things... I research obsessively before I make the move.
I think I knew every working part in our R7 before we ordered it.

Chaps are good boats IMO. I was obsessed with the newer model sunestas for awhile.

Our boat was a Sunesta 233. We had a blast with that thing. Dragged our kids for hundreds of miles in a tube. We really didn’t realize that it rode like a dump truck until the Cobalt.

Tusc here is my story. The similarity scares me sometimes!

About 15 years ago I bought a 21 Four Wynns out of an auction. It was okay but nothing special. It was brown and I named it The Floater. My wife didnt like that to much. I didn't know squat about the boat but it turned out to be a good one that made plenty when I sold it.

Then my Dad calls me.from some resort he's at with his motor home up by Lake Michigan. He's found a 23' cuddy that someone traded in at the resort marina and its like brand new. It had been winterized and setting in a storage barn for 5 years when the prior owner traded and they want it gone. I made a sight-unseen offer and they accepted. I drove up the next weekend and picked it up, then took it to our lake place and did the same thing you did. I drug the kids around on tubes, ski's and kneeboards for hundreds of miles. We had that boat for 10 years. It was our water suburban and we thought we was in tall cotton. We didn't know what we didn't know.

Then I got "the bug" and started looking at Chapperal Sunestas 223's. Had made up my mind to buy one when Crownline 240 EX surfaced. I was just about to pull the trigger on one I found but something... something wasn't right. I hesitated for 2 or 3 days, and then my 240 Cobalt showed up on CL. I knew it was a project, I knew it would take the winter, but I knew it was my boat before I ever drove to Dallas the next morning to make an offer and bring it home. That was the day I joined this forum.

My biggest takeaway? I never realized my last two boats rode like dump trucks! With our cuddy I couldn't get up to plane in rough water because it would beat you to death, and I mean hard. With our 262 I can put the tabs down and cruise through whitcaps like butter!
Jeez it's such a difference.
