About a month ago at the Okc Boat Show I spoke with the dealer that I ordered my R7 Surf from. He basically told me then that they were locked out on ordering any R5 or R7 Surf models for summer delivery. He specifically mentioned Surf models at that time but that may have changed.

BTW, I have a well equipped 2018 R7 Surf that has never seen the water that can be for sale right around MSRP if anyone is interested! :D :D :D

Here is the email that was sent back by the dealer this morning.
"We changed one of our stock boats to yours. The soonest we can get a new order will be late July at this point."

I'm surprised your dealer gave you that slot. They could have sold it to another dealer!
Good for you!

Damn right. Its looking like a better deal all the time. But seriously you have to wonder how much more theyd have sold for with another year or two of this sales history? I guess if they are maxed out on capacity it has a ceiling but the thing to think about if demand is greater than supply prices go up so they could potentially increase value by pricing at even higher premiums.

Ohohoh yeah.. I’d expect another large price increase. Obviously, people are not scared of the price. I’m also sitting here happily knowing I own this boat depreciation free for the next year or two. 😇.
If demand is silly strong in August, I may have a chat with my dealer..

Same thing. Love the size and it’s perfect for us..Probably the exact same options, and maybe add underwater lights. 🤣
If Cobalt runs out of inventory by August.. and when you tell someone that they can’t have it, crazy things could happen..
I wouldn’t plan on craziness, but we’ve all seen it happen before.

Tuscany you're not just a savvy business man but someone I respect a lot, even though we've never met face to face. It's like that for me with just about everyone here.

So I know you already know how low supply and high demand works. But are you aware of how an auction works, and how that demand scenario is an auctioneers dream?

It doesn't matter what the asset is, real estate, boats, autos, or whatever. That's why I always smile when someone tells me what something is "worth". I'm sure Liquid sees it on an hourly basis everyday at his job. Auctions are how the world's markets are established every day.

Market to people that are actively seeking to buy whatever it is your selling... Conduct an auction with open and transparent bidding, and the magic happens!

So this summer, a new R series is hard to get? Just offer what they do have.. the '17s and '18s, and sell them at auction. You think a $140,000 is a lot for a boat? Not when someone wants one worse than the other guy... I see it ALL the time! So is a new boat worth $140,000? Or is it worth $150,000, 60 or 70 thousand after a guys buys it at Auction? It's worth whatever the market demands.

Or what if Cobalt said no more new orders on an R7 this year other than two build slots that are available, and we'll sell them at a well advertised auction? Just the build slots alone are VERY valuable!

Yeah, I love my job! I need to call Cobalt this morning..
