It certainly works for many but it’s not for me. I think it would actually deter me from buying if you could not turn it off

So the term Captains Call means it has the silent choice option. If it didn't then it would just be called out of water exhaust.

You’re not alone man. I would actually not buy a boat bc it has it on there. If I had an offshore racer I would absolutely have it.

.
Silent choice was a Mercruiser product that utilized a pneumatically actuated solenoid to divert the thru hull exhaust to the propeller as a “ silent choice” when he or she desires.

Captain’s Call is a Corsa product that utilizes an electronically actuated solenoid to divert the thru hull exhaust to the propeller so the “Captain can call” when he or she desires.

Two different products with two different nomenclatures accomplishing the same purpose—redirecting the sound underwater for quieter operation when desired.

I agree with Tuscany. As much as I'd LOVE to have that sound, being I'm only pushing 50mph with my 300hp, do I really want to be that guy with the "civic on water" trying to act all fast!! LOL I don't have the monster V-8's like the rest of you.

Everyone probably has an opinion on this one. For me, any V8 (small or big) can justify a CC option. Just doesn't sound as good on the V6.

I remember considering the Silent Choice option with a new Donzi that had a 4.3L V6. Even though it was a Donzi, just didn't seem to justify Silent Choice. Would have sounded a little wimpy.

In any event, also discussed extensively here....

For me, I'm not a "go fast" guy anyway, at least not on the lake. I raced offroad dirtbikesfor years and pretty much filled my need for speed.

Being on the water, for us anyway, is about de-stressing. Cruising. Relaxing. Entertaining ourselves and our friends and family. Soaking in the experience, living every moment to the fullest on the water, day or night. Relishing the moment and the blessing and knowing I own one of the finest boats in the water.

Sometimes I may go all weekend without flipping my exhaust on. Then there are other times, especially if it's just a buddy or two at the dock, I'll flip it on and watch them light up! Or ill flip it on as we cruise by a friend out on the water. Or flip it on just to hear the rumble. Kinda like a Harley. I dont think they are much good for anything more than looking cool cruising, and definitely not fast, but boy do they sound good going by!

There's a couple of Bajas on our dock, and with my CC being under the deck in the "echo chamber" I've been told it sounds better than either one of them. They can't turn theirs off, and I wouldn't own a boat that I couldn't turn off
It would be waaaay to annoying.

But it's nice to have the choice. I guess that's why it's called (the) Captians Call!

CC was a must have option for me. Sounds so sweet at low rpm cruising up to (and away from) the marina bar. At WOT it's pretty cool as well.
I have a big block Corvette with sidepipes so I'm a fan of loud. My wife loves a good V8 exhaust note too.. in fact her Audi S5 V8 has a performance exhaust that was a requirement for her when getting the car.

The CC is just another "toy within a toy" to play with.

One thing I haven't seen yet, or I just missed it, what is the going price to have the CC installed aftermarket?

A7 knows. He just had one installed. Seems like it starts around $2,500 for a Corsa system and labor and goes up from there, depending on who does it.

Figure about $3,000--3,500 for this option.
Our 2005 Cobalt w/ Merc 496 engine CC kit was $2,895.20. Add a few hours labor at $100 an hour and tax on top of that.
Warrantied for 3 years on engines less than 500HP (otherwise 1 year)

I liked the Mercruiser pneumatic system better but it is no longer offered.

Here is the link to the Corsa Performance site. Just plug in your boat info for product...

Thanks for the reply and link. It looks like they only offer it for boats '12 and older. Who offers it for '13 and newer?
