Re: Captains Call Exhaust Option
No hates on here. My donzi was full time out the back exhaust. Honestly when your in the boat it's not that bad. It's much better out the back than the side.

You can see the small black exhaust "caps" between just above the swim platform. Absolutely love when the twin big blocks are singingCycleman6 wrote: Sun Feb 25, 2018 8:01 pm Anyone order their boat with captains call, or heard a cobalt with it? Traditionally you see it out side on Crownline...Where does Cobalt set theirs up?

Dat A$$! I bet that sounds sweet man! I love the sound of mine with 1 Volvo big block. Re: Captains Call Exhaust Option
You are not alone. My opinion it that is has it's place on certain boats just as loud exhaust is nice on classic and hot rodded cars where you can hear the cam lope. My boat will top out 47-48 and if it would net me some true speed gain (more than 1-2mph) I would consider it. IMO, putting it on my boat would be like modding the exhaust on my 3.5 ecoboost or my wife's escalade.charron wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2018 7:50 pm I think I’m definitely in the minority here, but I have to say that I have no desire for CC on my boat. Maybe I’m getting old, but unless it’s a classic muscle car, I don’t like a loud exhaust. When I’m out on the lake, I couldn’t imagine cruising and hearing that loud engine all the time (I know it can be shut off). I’m not a go fast boat guy either. Don’t hate, just my opinion! Am I the only one???
On another note, I have a captain's call button on my dash. Any ideas/suggestions on what I could use it for since I don't have the CC option?

Re: Captains Call Exhaust Option
I can't comment on the sound of Captain's Call with catalyst because I've never heard one configured that way. However, my 2011 8.1 GXi is one of last non catalyst BB's made I believe...I still like the way it sounds but I wouldn't have installed it if I couldn't switch it on/off.2ridgebacks wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2018 11:55 am Mluters,
Does the catalyst in the manifold affect the sound much? Are you one of the lucky ones that got a non catalyst after 2010? I was led to believe that the VP catalyst screwed up the sound and it really wasn’t worth it. I won’t be doing CC this year, but maybe next.

Sooner I have an idea. Make that an ejection seat button for Cowboys fans! That's what I would do with a sooner fan for sure

Re: Captains Call Exhaust Option
I guess I'm in the minority view. I have a Cobalt because I turned down a 15 year old Regal 2300 (V8/300) at our local marina with 25 hours on it and went looking for a different boat. Why? It had a Captain's Call exhaust that I found obnoxiously loud. In fact, an acquaintance of mine was a 1/2 owner in the boat and said he only went out on it a few times as it was too loud. While you can turn it off, some of the sound still goes through hull.
If it wasn't for my kids and water sports, I think I'd have gone for a 30' sailboat instead of a powerboat. I prefer a laid back, relaxing atmosphere when I am at the lake escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.
Cobalt has the reputation of being the best built boat in its class. That is why I bought one. A quiet ride and engine was a close second reason.
