I wouldn’t ever be afraid of the Duramax. Usually, “bad raps” originate when ones loyalty toward brand “A” ends in bashing brand “B”.
I personally wouldn’t be afraid of any of them.
125k on a diesel may not be a deal killer to some, but 125K on a Ram chassis definitely is..

Driller My brother has a country Veterinary practice in Texas. He has like 5 GMC Duramax trucks. All he buys is GMC Duramax trucks. These trucks start at the first of the day and run all day because of the refrigeration on the vet boxes. No telling how many running hours are on these plus all the miles he and his veterinarians put on the trucks. He has had Fords and Dodges but they don't last as long. Don't think he has tried any of the foreign brands. So can't help you with those.

Last year I was truck shopping. I had a really nice Titan that there was nothing wrong with but I just wanted something newer. So I started looking at the new Titans. One of my pet peves on the platinum model XD is that the nice big mirrors were not power folding or extending. Also when looking at that class of truck there was no sunroof available...every other truck had it. Again, nit picking but when you are comparing all the trucks in your price range you notice stuff like that. I drove the Titan, Titan XD gas, and Titan XD Diesel. The throttle response on the diesel was HORRIBLE!!! There was such a lag in the response that even after driving the XD Diesel multiple times, I couldn't get over it. There is an honest 2-3 second lag when you punch it for anything to happen, so if you go to turn left across traffic...plan for a whole lot of nothing. I was then trying to like feather the gas a bit and that seemed better but didn't fix it. I can also tell you that it is not turbo lag, there is just nothing that happens. There is something wrong and if you read the forums, all the owners know about it. I also could have saved probably over $10,000 getting the Titan over what I ended up with but it would have drove me crazy...crazy is not worth $10,000. I had my choice narrowed down to the Denali with that awesome 6.2 or the F150 3.5 with the 10 speed. I love that 6.2 but the truck just felt old and not thought through. The Ford had so much more tech that I liked and made me feel like I was actually paying for something. People pissed and moan about aluminum but sports cars have been using it for YEARS and its funny how Chevy is starting to use more of it now also. My advise is to test drive them again and again and if your dealer doesn't like it...find a new dealer!

I have now moved on from the Titan. Decided that if I go diesel, I'll go with one of the big boys. I also hate the dash on the Titan.

Thanks for everyone's opinion. It was helpful.

Agree most likely the correct choice, go /w a known diesel platform. I will ignore the fact that you are not interested in gas power plants and use this opportunity to show off the pretty boy truck doing work. Not a huge trailer 2k empty, but towed it about 75 miles up some pretty decent rolling Kentucky hills.

Truck never left 6th gear, held 65mph no problem, instead of downshifting like a traditional engine it just builds boost and rolls on. 65mph in 6th puts it right at 1,800RPM which is close to max torque. It was really nice to roll up a hill without having to downshift and hear a screaming engine. Got 17mpg /w the trailer behind it. Excited to see what it does pulling the boat.

Nice truck Nauti. Not totally against the gassers, just like the diesels better.

I was really skeptical about the Ecoboost trucks when they first came out, I really really really wanted to hate them. Opposite happened, I now find them very impressive. Never been a Ford guy but if I was in the market for a 1/2 ton pickup I'd give the F150 Ecoboost a serious look. Nice truck Nauti :)

Yes I think GM needs to get in the turbo game.

Yup I like mine so far. I will be picking up my 250 on Friday which is a little over 12 hours of driving round trip. I will report back with info.

I have a feeling my weekend ritual of cleaning the vehicles will be sidetracked by boating, lol!
