Cobalt Boats run sales?
How about running a sale on the VP 430.

The twins in our boats?.. :D
I think we would see the outdrive launched into the air when the throttle opens up..
I'd be happy if VP/Cobalt didn't charge an extra 11K MSRP for a simple CNC port job to the heads, and installing a different cam...

I think Cobalt's MSRPs are robust enough that dealers generally don't balk at Cobalt-advertised specials or sales. Cobalt does tend to put an asterisk denoting "at participating dealers" for the specials I've seen, giving those who don't want to participate a chance to opt out.

Although I'm new to the new boat market, IMO, "Cobalt' and "sale" are something that doesn't seem to fit the high end, doubly expensive corporate image they are trying to project. Bayliner, Tahoe, yes. Cobalt?
The only thing I could get corporate to toss in on my R7 was a flag....

Tuscany, yeah, I think they even call them special offers or something other than a sale. Given the MSRP, I don't mind a special offer now and then.

Obviously, the orders of these particular sale models are coming up short. Cobalt must feel that their price is too high to sell these boats, and the buying public must agree...
High end, and entry level doesn't mix. I'm guessing entry level buyers of new boats want the largest boat for their own particular budget.
There are a lot of fine boat builders out there, and the entry level market for new boats is a very competitive segment.

As much as I love the boat that we have on order, IMO, there are interior features the competition offers that Cobalt doesn't. The cooler situation is front and center. It's unfortunate that there isn't a portable cooler/refrigerator feature designed into a boat when applying such a proud MSRP.

As an older interview video from Cobalt says (directionally), we've made some mistakes, but we continue to focus on delivering a quality product...
I boat in both salt and fresh water, and I feel the conditions and intended boat use differ quite a bit.
To me, lake life includes running the lake, sight seeing, hanging out on the hook in a nice cove listening to music (lounging around). This is where the I/O power provides a great sun pad and swim platform. Conversely, salt life is more about running from place to place (destination based) and fishing for many. While many lake boats live a pampered life covered in some way (to protect all that vinyl), boats in the salt often live out in the elements and need to be more resilient to salt and sun (even if on a lift). Given Cobalt leads the premium fresh water market, I feel the OB offering is getting away from most of their market. For lake use, I would not consider the OB option because the swim platform is pretty much lost.
Just another opinion...

Cobalt will be releasing a bunch of large outboard powered models like the R30 and possibly the R35. I'm guessing they are listening to their salt water dealerships who want to carry something larger to compete with the higher end salt boats.
