A 262 for the ozarks huh? Are you down the hurricane deck arm or by state park area? If not, you may want to consider a 282....or a 302

600 hours is nothing if it’s freshwater. It’s a truck engine, believe it or not people put 200-300k miles on trucks all the time without catastrophic engine failure. If you’re wary try to get them to replace the bellows and risers as that’s what gets the brunt of corrosion. Boats are meant to be used. I would be scared to death of a 10 year old boat with 200 hours. The fact is that people that use their boats a lot take really good care of them. It’s the people that don’t use them and don’t take care of them that you want to steer clear of.

I actually distinctly remember that. Not to derail the thread but did they winterize the engine before they put it away? I’ve actually seen boats at the marina have issues when people go to use them for the first time in august after they’ve been sitting all summer and the impellers implode bc the oil drained down from not being used.

Are you asking about mine? My boat is actually on it's second engine... after the owner had it summerized... didn't use it the entire summer and then didn't winterize it... engine had 12 hours on it.

Liquid that makes total sense. That’s been my experience as well with engines that sit too long. I try not to let mine sit a week without running it around even if I just run up there to start the engine and take a quick 15 minute spin around.

- 2nd Extended swim platform

- Darker color hull
- Less than 500 hours
- Trailer

Prefer local MO boat.

Finally, you are boating on LOTO, where are you at on the lake? Do you have experience with this lake? It can get quite rough for even a 262....like monster plowing cruiser wakes. Water can come over the bow VERY easily. If you get stuck between two of them with crossing waves it can get very dangerous.

We have crossed lake Erie to Canada in our 262 a number of times. She performs quite well. It's only 26 miles across but we still watch the weather closely.

Still, certain waves can create havoc in areas like an inlet or.....next to this guys dock on LOTO:
(You see the cruiser at the beginning and then the wave hit at roughly 40 seconds.)

Yep happens all the time at LOTO’s. My wife’s uncle is having to repair his dock all the time there for the same reason. I’d want a 263 if I was going to be in the 260 series there.

I preface all this with the fact that I do love LOTO and have spent many a day/hours on this lake. My parents have places down there and still head down a couple times a year. If you have a right sized boat its no issue. The problem is for those who are in the under 30 club. The difference between a great lake and LOTO is LOTO is relatively narrow. On a weekend with hundreds of cruisers plowing up and down the channel those waves really have no time or distance to dissipate away and often times just bounce off the shore back into the channel. Part of the problem is those cruiser boats like to "plow" which throws off an enormous wake (which btw is good for jumping on wave runners but watch out for your spleen ). On weekends there are just too many of those boats and there is really is no relief on the main channel, unless you are on the extreme ends of the lake. Even the hurricane deck arm is getting infested with cruisers now from what I've heard.

So surfer back to your thread......have I convinced you yet to spend more money on a bigger boat? Thats my only real agenda here. Perhaps an R30? $$$

Just to clarify a little, this one has the swim platform but not the additional extended swim platform option.
