Re: My older('84) 190 project
So did I just have a pair of defective housings that came apart easy? Maybe the glue was old and broken down? Weird.

Mine were a boogerbear. I wrestled and fought with them to come apart and then they never did go back together right. I had to glue everthing to stay together. You're just weird..

I think it comes from not wearing a hat while under that hot summer sun.

Re: My older('84) 190 project
Things are about to start happening, the carpet came in wednesday along with the glass mat. picked up a buffer and some paper a while back, found some more problems with the trailer nothing serious,I can still use it just some things I want to upgrade. Refinishing the teak like nolaboater but I need to decide just where to stop for now and use my boat and finish up next winter.

Re: My older('84) 190 project
I agree on how much to finish and just work towards using and enjoying the boat. There are obvious things that need completion (fuel tank, engine cover, seats) but there are some wants that can wait and I am going to focus on the "must-haves."

Buffing/sanding??? I see where some guys claim to only start/stop your machine when it is in contact with what your working on. Is that true? What do you guys say.....what works for you??

That's what I was taught....sorta. Start when it's in contact but you don't have to stop it in contact. I could be wrong tho....

Yep it's the not too fling compound all over. With the slow start buffers it's not as bad as the instant on ones.

Re: My older('84) 190 project
So........I'm sanding on my boat and have one side done with 800 grit and you can see the shine coming back already but if you look close there is kind of a "orange peel" like look to it,is that normal or do I need to sand more? The really nice shine that is under the old numbers and lettering doesn't seem to be changing when I sand over it like it doesn't show any sign of being sanded and is a bit darker that the rest of the hull is that from sun fade or do I need to sand more? Good part is it's much smoother and shinier where I've sanded.

The goal is to get it to look like our doors under the decals.hoghead54 wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 9:44 am So........I'm sanding on my boat and have one side done with 800 grit and you can see the shine coming back already but if you look close there is kind of a "orange peel" like look to it,is that normal or do I need to sand more?
