We get all of the weather effects magnified at this end of Lake Erie. If there is wind out of the west, the entire lakes momentum comes at an abrupt halt at the southeast corner. Its crazy.

The famous Blizzard of 77' that buried the city?
It wasn't from direct, or lake effect snowfall. That was actually minimal.. It was the wind carrying the soft fluffy snow load covering the Lake Erie ice bed and blowing it east and into the city of Buffalo and the surrounding areas. Imagine the amount of square miles of open lake ice bed, and the amount of snow sitting on top of it. I remember schools closed for a month. :D :

So I guess that is what makes me slightly "weather shy".
This is cold weather, but also can happen in the summer (rarely) with the right storms over the lake.

But when that big beautiful lake is flat on a nice summer day? :D :D :D

That right there is why you should be moving South. I grew up in Seattle hating the weather. When I had a chance to move I grabbed it and haven't lived there since. That was in 1977.

🤣🤣Hahaha, it’s not quite that easy for us. Our roots are a little deep. When the cold gets old, we have a home in SW Florida that breathes life back in during the winter.

It’s hard to imagine why, but this is our home, better or worse.. The BEST summers (even if it’s only for a day)😂, four beautiful seasons, no mudslides, forest fires, snakes, bugs that carry you away, hurricanes, tornados, extreme heat that can wreck a summer day, water for all to drink forever, basically safe and non violent, and a caring attitude is normal. And it kind of tough to find good snowmobiling in the south.
We just have Andrew Coumo to deal with.

We have all that....except the snow. Well we do have hurricanes occasionally, and a bit of humidity but you have that. OK....maybe we have a bug or 2. But....we have some of the best food in the country and year 'round boating.

It's interesting what one of us is willing to endure in our part of the world that another of us shun. Folks that move here are terrified of tornados. I tell them if it's not coming down your street your fine, no worries.

Out where Thunder lives is hot. No grass or trees, but heat. At Tuscanys is snows like a beotch. There are bugs and mosquitos in Nolas neck of the woods that are big enough to rape a crow.

That's what I love about this family of innerweb weirdos we're all a part of!

Haha.
I was at the MATS show in Louisville a couple years ago. While looking over the show trucks outside among black clouds, the tornado sirens started whaling from everywhere. Do you think anyone else, (besides me) was spooked and running for cover?
Nope. Just me wondering WTF.
The judging just went on like nothing was happening.
I guess there was a touchdown 5 miles away. I think the local attitude was "nothing to see here" unless hail stones start.
