People who say that just dont care that much about boating IMO. I've never said that and dont imagine I ever will. I usually just roll my eyes when I hear it. Yes it costs money (more than just the initial purchase), if you didn't realize that when you bought it your an idiot. The enjoyment however, IMO far outweighs the cost.

I totally agree! When people tell me there are only 2 happy days - the day you buy a boat and the day you sell a boat I would agree but where they are miss guided is that all the days in between are not pain and misery but joyful and memorable! In other words is a trip to Disney World a giant waste of money or a joyful memory? I know what this forums would say!

I heard that line so many times when I bought our boat back in Sept. Everyone thought they were so clever when they said it too. Good one buddy, neither I nor every other boat owner out there have EVER heard that line before, it's so original.

Ugh.

+2. I have a friend close by that went out with us about 3 years ago. He and his wife and family came to the lake for a weekend, and when he got home he HAD to have a boat. He went on the hunt, called me about 100 times, and finally settled in a little runabout. (Not a Cobalt, don't remember and don't care)

His neighborhood wouldn't let him park it at his house, so he asked to park it at my house. I'm out in the boondocks and have plenty of room, so I said sure. The boat had a nice cover, new tires on the trailer, and was ready to go. He took it out one time that summer. ONE TIME. But he made a payment on it every month.

Last summer he asked me to help him sell it. And when it went bye bye, he used that old line on me. Really?

I told him when he bought the thing it doesn't make sense to own a boat unless you use it. A lot. Otherwise, figure up how much you have invested in each outing, and renting a boat starts making a ton of sense. But nooo, he had to own one. Whatever....

I just got back from my child’s first day at Disney....really hated it compared to when I went as a kid. The reason was fast pass system. Just standing in a line and watching 30 fast passers go the 4 in my line ticked me off.

Well Aj sorry about Disney. My wife and I found the cure to that problem. We found George yep George. We still remember his name from two years ago. Disney's goal is to make everyone happy. So when your going to get inline and it's long they have a person standing there to help. They have free fast passes in there pockets. Yep we got them. Yep loop hole :-) guess what new I'm a happy Disney guest. My wife didn't like Disney. She doesn't like big groups of people. Me I'm good.

How old? We tried to take my daughter just after her 3rd bday, she was definitely not old enough. That was a waste of money. Probably she'd do a lot better now.

My favorite other non boater line is. “Do you know what the term boat stands for?” Bust out another thousand. If I had a nickel every time I heard that one...

Lol....not sure I've heard that one. That one is kinda true though, well maybe hundreds rather than thousands after a certain point anyway.
