I have not got a chance to run mine yet because of the weather. I called corsa yesterday and got a price on CC but it will probably be next year before I add that option.

The CC option Cobalt installs on the new 18 R5, is that a Corsa exhaust?

I bought a very well maintained 1995 252 at the tail end of last summer. I stumbled across this thread and as luck would have it, my boat is at the mechanic getting captain's call installed along with a swim platform and a few other things. I grew up watching Cobalt's (and other boats) run across the lakes, and I always liked the ones with the loud exhausts. Being able to switch it on-demand is the best of both worlds.

Welcome Shrfdeputy from a Table Rock boater. Where do you boat? Do you know the Beuhler's or the Frankenberry's from Wichita?

Hello! Right now it can't decide if it is going to be Spring or Winter still here so we haven't been out at all yet this year. We mostly went to El Dorado Lake last year with a few trips to Cheney sandwiched in between. They are nothing like the Missouri, Arkansas or Oklahoma lakes. We are planning at least one trip to either Table Rock or Beaver in July. Kaw Lake in Oklahoma is about an hour down the road from me so we plan on going there a bunch too. That is if my boat ever gets out of the shop! It's been there almost a month. The parts for the captain's call showed up and they were the wrong ones. Corsa was pretty great to work with though because they had my mechanic send pictures and measurements, and then they manufactured brand new diverters in about two days. Hopefully it is done tomorrow or Monday.

Shuruff, even though you nearly stayed on topic..you have almost properly hijacked this thread with your intro. I like it. You're gonna do fine and fit right in here! Come to Table Rock in June and join the CC flotilla. I has a special place in my heart for 1st responders. You'll have to find the thread and read about it tho. (The TRL flotilla that is) You do and your an OFficial Cobalt Chatter, and welcome at my fire anytime!

Well, at my boat anyway... it's hard to build a fire out on the lake. But if I had one you'd be welcome!

Thank you Ytmsn. I will definitely check that out. I'm still figuring out the rules and all that. I appreciate the invitation for sure.

Cycleman6, I went all the way through this thread yesterday and saw how you talked about getting the 350 hp option on your new boat. Then I noticed your signature says 380. So did you end up upgrading, and did you still keep the CC option?

Yes, the forum is great at helping you spend more money! I started off with about a 15K cheaper boat than I ended up building. I did indeed upgrade to the VP 6.2L 380HP versus the 350HP Merc, and I did end up adding the CC exhaust. Honestly, the CC option is probably one of the most looked forward to options, and my wifes favorite option is the transom shower!

Eh, it’s only money right? 😂 But the good thing is it seemed like you were getting really good advice. That VP 380 is a honking engine that will help you have more fun and make the boat worth more when it is time to upgrade. Congrats.

True. Only money. I would have regretted not adding CC if I skipped on it

Well hopefully I’ll have mine back from the shop in the next few days. I can’t wait to hear it for the first time.

It'll put a smile on your face for sure.

Someone replaced the factory exhaust bellows on my boat with one of the sleeves that generally guides the exhaust through the drive but doesn't seal it up. It has just enough exhaust bypassing the drive with the exhaust closed to sound mean but not all that loud. Several people have asked me what's in it when I pull up to the dock. I like the subtlety of that, with wide open at the flick of a switch. 8-)
