He has to tell the "here's how it happened and it really wasn't my fault" story about a million times, which no one will believe. They will still be thinking "dumb A$$" all the time he is talking. There's just no excuse gonna make up for this one other than an act of terrorism.

Really would be interesting on how the insurance would pay this out. Can't imagine he will have enough coverage to pay for it all. Does our local insurance cc resident? Bigblockus?

Yeah. There's no coming back from setting 50 people's boats on fire at the start of the season.

More like "that's the f'in guy" because people only talk about him and never directly to him.

Not enough info to say, but I'm certain the individual insurance companies paying out on the boats that were lost or damaged will be looking to Subrogate if at all possible. If the loss could be pointed conclusively to the negligence of one individual, that guy better have deep pockets or a lot of liability insurance, because after all the claims have been settled the Subro lawyers will be circling like sharks. I recommend everyone carry a personal liability umbrella of $1 million or more, but even that might not be enough if they can pin a loss like this on one person. Most boat liability policies are $300,000 for the base amount.

Usually, for a fire to get this crazy it takes more than one failure. I heard it was a generator that backfired and caused the fire.

Thanks that's the word anyways. Thanks for the input. I couldn't imagine having my boat go up in smoke. I don't get attached yes I would move on but it's hard to find another when it fits my needs.

I read the same... Generator back fired with 200 gallons of gas on board...so imagine that spreading to all the other boats with similar gas tanks!

He should not name his next boat Up in Smoke!
