Yep, had a '97...you guessed it 208 islander with a 454 bravo 1 with thru hull exhaust. Was reading captain's call thread yesterday. Love that sound!!! Anyway...thanks for all the welcomes and compliments. I'll try and find a picture of the Baja. I know how pictures are required here.

Welcome from another Texan up in Austin.
I've been wanting to try Canyon for some time, my parents even have a lot down near it (can't build on it), but sadly hit the age where they won't be building, but maybe I will one day.
Sounds like a cool trip to Amistad. I have a good friend in Del RIo that sends me some incredible pictures from his boat trips.

Re: New member- 2004 220
Love Travis. Pulled the Baja up there a few times. Haven't been since it refilled though. Wife talked about maybe going up there this summer for a few days.
We loved that tube. Started leaking at the seam at the end of last summer. Bought the updated version from Costco last month (only $200 with air pump and rope).

Canyon in nice. Clear, beautiful water. If you decide to give it a try, I suggest Cranesmill Park. Water is usually calm there; and it is not a day use park, so not usually crowded. $4 to launch. If you have extra vehicles coming with you; they may require you to get a campsite @ $20. Or, they will have to park outside and jump in the boat to get to the ramp. I prefer this than fighting the crowds at the free public ramps.

nice I had a '96 272 islander with a 454 bravo 1. No thru hull exhaust though. the 454 was a slug in a 272. I could barely hit low 40s.Islander208 wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 9:20 am Yep, had a '97...you guessed it 208 islander with a 454 bravo 1 with thru hull exhaust. Re: New member- 2004 220
On my 21' boat, it would run. Mid to upper 60's. It would get a little "loose" at WOT and trimmed up. But, it was fun. I would get the "look" from my girlfriend (now wife) when running 65 over waves or wake. Couldn't have this boat now with the little ones. I would get the "LOOK" if it touched 40-45.tgrace98 wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 2:36 pmnice I had a '96 272 islander with a 454 bravo 1. No thru hull exhaust though. the 454 was a slug in a 272. Re: New member- 2004 220
I was looking for a yellow one. Love the way it looks on the water. Red would have been my second choice. Love bright colors on boats.cmattj wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 8:46 pm Welcome from California!! Yellow is awesome on the water and looks like you went with good one!

The Cobalt is a more solid boat. Much more stable and family friendly. Not as fast, but handles the waves much better. The 220 is only one foot longer than the 208 (not including swim deck), but is so much roomier. The Baja was only rated for 8 people.
Details in the Cobalt are so much better...seats, windshield, storage; just to name a few

Your 220 looks like one that I saw for sale in Kentucky last year. Sharp boat.

Welcome from another Texan, great looking boat! I'm on Lake Travis and have mine dry stacked without a trailer, so I don't get to try out other lakes.
