Mine did this on first start up this year. Mine didn't use screws clamps on the hose to the cooler. They use a one time crimp clamp. It was leaking there. I removed the clamp and replaced it with 2 screw type clamps and no leak. It's all the way on the rear of the engine. Mine was no fun. Follow the hose from the power steering rackto the cooler.

ctfortner wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 8:51 pm Ok yall....argghhh I got another problem I just realized. It was low on PS fluid so I topped it off yesterday. I just noticed on the ground the water is pinkish. Yep, checked ps fluid just now, almost gone. It appears to be running through the engine and spitting out on the ground. What would be causing this?
Power steering cooler. Internal leak flushing through.
Thanks. Where would I look for this, on the engine, or remote? No idea if I can get one of these local, or how hard to replace, if not, whats the prognosis for using this weekend without it being swapped out?
Usually behind the steering pump under a exh manifold or block. Not sure on ford.

Need to be replaced. Run it out of fluid, then the p/s pump burns up etc..

Plus you don't want to be that guy with the oil slick behind your boat.

Well this really sucks. Busted my butt the last 2 weeks working on this thing to have it ready for this long weekend. Looks like there will be no boat for us this weekend. I don't think I am going to find one locally to replace. I been out with a flashlight trying to run down where it is, and it must be in the back of engine because I can see everywhere but there and I don't see it. I followed the lines from the pump and the rack, as far as I could see without removing batteries and laying back in there, and I cannot see it. Unless it is something i can repair, our first outing will have to wait.

Hey guys I got one local believe or not. It took and hour but I got old one off. In the process I noticed a drip from the crimped line going to the ram. Can I get something like that at auto parts store? Thought I had this whipped and got a new issue

Do you have a hydraulic pressure line store around.

NAPA makes hydraulic hoses in this area. We also have a few farm machinery dealers. Even a material handling (forklift) shop

Remembered there was a hydraulic place not far, went by there and was out with a new hose in 10 minutes. 23 bux vs 100 for factory! Came home put new hose and cooler on and topped off, ran it, topped off...seems to be holding steady. Rough job, but got er done and we made it to lake house dark 30. Test run tomorrow if weather holds.
