Ytmsn wrote: Thu May 31, 2018 11:49 pm Okay Mr Hahn. I had to zoom into your pic to see what B was talking about with the treble hooks. Holy crap that's a beautiful lake! The backdrop is GORGEOUS! Tell us again what lake you boat on?

And hey, it's your boat. If you want to fish off of it that's your call. If I wanted to build a fire in the floor of mine... I guess I own that sucker so I should be able to do as whatever I want to do with it, right? Fish on, brutha!

Nola, I wouldn't fish from my Cobalt either. But if he wants to fill that summbitch up with water and fill it full of minnows I reckon that's his call. But aside from all that... Go zoom on that picture. That's a fine looking lake!
Couldn't agree more on what someone else does with their boat. I always busted my ass to make my boats loot spotless. Bringing a fish on board....other than right off the grill, is not something I would do. And as I said, fishing bores me. Or I guess I should say, catching a fish is OK....waiting to catch said fish is boring. IMHO....
Agreed. Funny story..

A few years ago BC (before Cobalt) I would take the boat out right at sunrise to just cruise and drink my coffee. I started throwing out a couple of troll lines just for fun. If I ever caught one I'd just throw it back.

On one particular morning I was catching a lot, so I decided to keep them. In less than an hour I had 10 or 15 fairly good sized fish.

I took them in and tried to give them to a 10 year old neighborhood kid. He had a bit of a speech impediment, and I'll never forget the laughter in his face.

Me: "Bo I caught a bunch of sandbass. At least I think they are. You want'em?'
Bo: "Haha! You tupid! Those are dwums! They'ahr nasty!"

I dont think I've fished since...

I have 9 and 11 year old boys. I keep a telescoping pole and mini tackle box on the boat at all times. We'll dive down for some clams and use them to fish off the swim platform. My 11 year old especially loves to see how many fish he can catch and contain in the cleaning bucket I also keep on board. When the water gets too hot and the fish look like they're getting a bit sluggish, we toss them all back in. So, we're not avid fishermen by any stretch, and fish never make it past the swim platform, but for us, dropping a line to try to catch some sunfish or bass is part of the enjoyment of the lake.

P.S. Theres a plastic protector on those hooks and this is basically the actual point of this thread, where to place rod holders so we real men and women of the water don't have to lean our fishing rods on the seats.
"Real Men and women" buy a boat suited for fishing. Center console or a Bayliner. You know....something you don't give a shit about. Cobalts are too nice to fish from and for that matter they really are not a good fishing platform just due to their design.

Used to salmon fish every weekend and one day realized I was bored out of my mind. The only enjoyable part of the day for me was the boat ride. Haven' dropped a line in the water in over 40 years and doubt I ever will again. Just not for me. If that makes me not a "Real Man" I guess I'll just have to live with it.
Looks guys, you don't want to fish no problem. I didn't buy my Cobalt as a fishing boat, I purchased it because it takes a big boat to safely cross places I visit like Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge, and my wife is very comfortable in this 232. Still, it's a lot of fun and quite relaxing to drop anchor and sit on the rear bench with my feet on the swim deck and toss a line around. The fish never even have to enter the boat, many fish get tossed back while a select few of their tasty friends get tossed into a small cooler sitting next to my feet on the swim deck.

In general, If you want to come in our fishing specific threads and make jokes I personally don't care, but please try not to get all bitchy and butt hurt like Nola here when we throw jokes right back at you. And please try not to completely derail our threads in the process of having fun. I'm still somewhat new and I like how laid back this forum usually is, so no hard feelings Nola and hopefully you can let it go.

And to answer Ytmsn, that picture was taken on Utah Lake over the Memorial Day weekend, I also took this picture on the same day:

First, Mr. Hahn, I don't get butt-hurt about what's said on Forums. As I said a few posts ago I really don't give a flying f....err, fish, what you do with your boat. I was simply bustin' yer chops about fishing in a boat as nice as a Cobalt. Seems to me you are the one who has anger issues. I was messin' with ya. So have a soda, go fishing and chill out.

I'm finished with this thread....

I hear you. I hate fish. I hate eating fish. I won't touch fish. But I'll go and watch you guys fish and boat in that beautiful lake.
More pictures of the lake please. What lake is that. I can't see a foot down in my lake.
I was in the Caribbean and went water skiing. Ok this is a long time ago. The locals call that fishing for sharks.

Just join in on the nut bustin’ here. There is never judgement, so know that everyone is very friendly and you have to understand that NO one will miss an opportunity to stick it in and break it off...in a very tongue and cheek kinda way. 🤣

That’s just what we do..🤣🤣

So getting back to the original question.
You might be able to mount these to the grab rails in the bow.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Too many folks are making the assumption that the only use for a “Rod Holder” is to for fishing. Many accessories use rod holders as a mounting point. I, for one, would like a rod holder for my CS23 for the Docktail Bar I received for Christmas!
