Hey SB555, I use the same stuff on my leather for my cars- it works great, however I was afraid of stripping off "The protectant on the Cobalt interior". Thought it may be to strong... Just want to make sure it safe. Please advise- fellow 226 owner... Thanks!
I can't imagine cobalt uses anything different than other top tier builders. I haven't seen it degrade the material at all. I treat with 303 after. It is highly recommended on some of the wakeboard boat forums. Ymmv

I will get pics soon and start troubleshooting the tach. Sorry I have been so slow to respond, just been out enjoying the boat.

I have fixed the speed O. I tightened all connections on the back of the gauge and that got it going again. I resealed the top of the out drive with silicon and this seems to have stopped any extra water that I thought I might be getting.

Next up is the tach and the pop up navigation light. Seems I can't fix the current one, so I am going to try to find that manual one that was mentioned here and install it.

Will be raining a lot here the next few days so there will not be a lot of progress.

anybody have a link to the replacement stern light? Looking for the pull up one that I can drop in where my motorized one sits. Google is failing me.

FYI for anyone looking for that light. It is no longer made. They stopped making them last summer. I "THINK" I have found one that is still in stock and have just ordered it. So I will get it installed next week when it arrives. Hoping for rain to go away one day this week so that I can start checking out the tach connections.

Mine is not operational. Light comes on but no movement. Just took delivery of the boat over the weekend and the marine dealer didn't seem optimistic that he could do anything about it. 2004 cobalt 240. Assuming it is the same as yours.
Am curious as to what steps you took to decide you couldn't fix it?
I haven't taken a close look at mine yet. Is it a sealed unit? does it look like it can be disassembled? I'll have to look at it if I'm out on the water this weekend. I'll remove it from the boat and take it home. When I've done a search on this topic it would appear that many folks have had problems with this unit and are unhappy with its quality.

I will probably not remove mine until the new part comes in, only because it is stuck in the up position and I may need it this weekend. I will get you some pics when I get mine removed. On Mine, the gearbox that runs it basically came loose from the telescoping pole and I see no way to hold it together. I tried putting it back and tying them together with zip ties and that didn't work. By the time I was finished the light even stopped working.

Well.. what I ordered did NOT end up being the pull up light. So I was not able to find one of those anywhere. this is the plug in telescoping light. Hopefully the base will mount in the current hole and hide it, so that it doesn't look out of place. It obviously will not sit flush and not sure I will like the look at all. i'll investigate more tomorrow and try to see if it will mount up.

Pics of wiring in the engine compartment like I promised. Not sure what I am exactly looking for here in order to fix the tach.

Got mine removed from the boat tonight. I think I can take it apart but feel it would be a waste of time. The cable that pushed the antenna up and pulls down is also cracked in a.couple of spots. So even if I get the motor fixed, it wont be long till that cable breaks and I'm sure we can't find a replacement for that.

I can take you some pics, if you want them

In other news, seems my hydro pump for my trim is going out. Both trim buttons, throttle and swim platform failed me this weekend. I topped off fluid and that made no difference. I was getting no clicking or anything. A well placed hit to the top of the hydro motor and it started running again.

Pricing replacement options now and will document the fix hear

In your second picture, is that a tear in the seat at the base of that starboard side cushion?

.
In other news, my telescoping anchor light broke today. It telescoped out but now won’t go back down. Sounds like it came loose from the boat. I’ll troubleshoot this weekend.

I like my light. It's still working but they have the manual pull up version at innovative lighting. The power ones are discontinued
Call innovative light and ask for the replacement manual " pull up light.

And find your coil. Center plug out of dist..then from your coil trace it to what may be a tach amplifier..or it may go right into the main harness.

Blue.. green haha as BB said. We need to verify you don't have a " open break" in wiring to your tach..

Once that confirmed and then you have the option or send to faria beede or find replacement..

I got that Sun super tach II we are gonna mount to the cowl!

In regards to the light, I did call them and they stopped producing that light last summer. Bummer

I can find the coil, it is top/back of the motor... I'll trace the center wire after work tomorrow and see what I can find.

Thanks!

Goes into a main box with three other connections. None of which appear to be cut or blue/green.

This is the back of my tach. Looks like the dial is set right and cables look secure.
