Best Trim Spot?
Best Trim Spot?
I am a new owner of a 200s with 5l mercury engine with dual props. I have noticed that if I trim up very much at all the boat seems to bounce (porpoising). The boat seems to handle best with prop all the way down. I read where each boat has a sweet spot that can be found with proper trim but so far I can’t seem to find. Anyone on here have a 200 model and experience with best trim spot? I am new to this boat and appreciate any input.

Welcome from Wisconsin. I know you were in the new member section and posted a picture. It looks sweet. Start your own thread in there.
The duoprop doesn't need much trim. Maybe a 1/8 up. From all the way down.

Re: Best Trim Spot?
I didn’t think of the dual prop effecting trim. All the boat videos I have watched indicates that the boat will get poor fuel efficiency when trim kept as low as mine. I will have to investigate a little deeper into subject. From what I have experienced the only time trim needs to be adjusted up is pulling boat up ramp. I would love to hear any other input about the 200s as I am still learning about.

Trim up till you start to porpoise, then trim down until you stop porpoising. This is where you should be regardless of what your gauge reads. Where you need to be will also change with speed.

Btw, which boat did you have before, & how did you get into Cobalt Boats Matt-Ky? Your past experience may have something to do with your trim handling sweet spots.
And welcome aboard Mate!

I usually hit the trim until the rpm’ stop climbing. Which looking at my gauge is still under the 1/4th mark. Like others have said the duo props don’t require much trim.
