Hello midlifecrisis. Welcome to the CChat forum!

Yes, shallower props will help with hole shot. ....and yes, you can change them out yourself. Volvo has a special tool to loosen the prop nut as does Merc. The outside prop nut is easy to remove with a basic crescent wrench. It's the inside prop nut that uses the tool. Just turn your battery switch off; put your boat in gear, & loosen the nut(s). Props will pull right off.

Be sure to grease the shaft before installing again. That simple.

If you have any pics or have time to start a new intro thread, we would love to hear how you got into Cobalt boats.

And again, welcome aboard mate!.

Yes it will and it will help get your top end rpm where it should be.

Thinking of switching to a set of F8s. I currently run f9 props on my 226. Rpm is 4300. 8.1 gi range is 4200-4600. Thinking I could get a few more rpm and have a slightly better holeshot. Also, we boat at 2500 feet and there are some lakes we would like to go to at 5500 feet so up there, the f8 might be needed to keep rpms in range.

Thoughts?

Yep that's a good place to start. I think your going to want a f7 way up there.

That big of a jump, huh? I guess the f9 is good for sea level, but loses 250 rpm at 2500 feet. The f8 would be good at 2500 feet but would lose another 300 at 5500 feet. Makes sense for a set of f7s though. Good thing I didn't accidentally by the f5 set that is posted locally thinking I had f6 props.

Worth the risk sight unseen and not much ebay feedback?

I do quite a bit of eBay purchases. I would have no issues bidding on those, SBtriplenickels. Solid seller.

I don't do ebay anymore due to a disagreement with them and PayPal. I asked my dad to bid on it for me because he still does do stuff on ebay. A bid magically appeared

Never bought used props before. Get them checked first or just try them out?

I think he said one was repaired before. Just look at them and if Good mount them. If they don't vibrate your good.

Yes. As our members said Volvo stainless are tough. But just look at the edges in relation to each blade and let's give them a try.

Also since your installing them Clock the prop positions so the blades don't pass each other under the out drive ( cavation plate) since your looking for optimized thrust it's better if just one blade passes at a time.
Front blade at 10, 2 and 6 o'clock
Rear blade at 8 ,12, and 4 o'clock or close to it

Geeze there's lots of blades😂😂 have fun!
