T550, have seen this advertised, interested to see how it works (the gas gadget not the jelly donut)

I had just read in my Cobalt book about this fuel system in the picture. It says my boat “may” have it but I don’t think I do as I have not seen any decal. But thought it was interesting. If someone has this, maybe they will chime in about it.

This makes a lot of sense. Per the EPA a charcoal canister is required on a motorcycle because they dont want gas leaking out if it falls over, and they even put these on dirt bikes. It would sure stand to reason they mandate them on a boat in the event fuel spills into the water.

The thing we should all be aware of is how the motor runs if the canister has fuel in it. It'll cause the engine to gurgle and run differently (rich, I think) until it's gone. I know folks take them off and bypass the system on a dirt bike, because we fall over a lot.

I need to look it up, but it seems like I remember fuel taking a long time to dissipate from the canister and causing performance issues from the vapors. On a motor with an ECU and sensors its supposed to work itself out, but that doesn't always happen the way its supposed to. Something to consider...

First test was not totally successful. It helped a lot, but some still seeped out, I believe around the gasket that the fuel nozzle goes into. In the video you can see the fuel seep between the nozzle gasket and clear plastic body. The gasket that goes down into the filer neck appeared to be dry on the outside. I put some gasket sealant between the plastic body and the nozzle gasket, hopefully that will help for next time. Could also be coming out from where the nozzle goes into the gasket...if that's the case, I'm not sure what would help that one.

.
So if there’s any type of fuel filler angle or side entrance this thing leaks correct.

The product demo shows it straight up and down & the gentleman putting pressure on it. Not sure I would recommend this for anything but vertical fuel filler receptacles. 🤔
