Couple of thoughts: I bought 2016 220 new with JL system and was unhappy with the bass output of the system the first summer I had it. I had a buddy who knew a thing or two about stereos take a look at it. He said all the gains to the amps were turned down. A few tweaks made all the difference. Love the stereo now. Might want to take a look at the gains on the amps on your new boats. I also added a wetsounds 4 zone controller under the helm that has added to our listening enjoyment. Let’s us easily change the volume to the bow, cockpit, stern and the sub.
Definitely recommend this upgrade.

No sub here. Emailed dealer today. We'll get Cobalt to rectify.

Get ‘em, guys! Sorry you have to go through that. I agree that a simple gain adjustment will take care of my issue. Problem is, these Roswell 900.6 amps don’t have traditional gain controls. I assume you have to do it “digitally” somehow.

I can’t find manuals for these amps online, either.

That’s kinda bullshit from the factory. No real excuse except they are not the company they think they are..

I believe if you press and hold the source button on the head unit, you’ll get a bunch of different options for adjustments including an equalizer. The problem is that it doesn’t seem to make any noticeable difference. There should definitely be some sort of gain adjustment on the amps, but I can’t find one.

Additional Roswell sub ordered today. Dealer is sending out the speciality stereo installer to have it professionally installed. Instead of mounting in the storage area, we are going to mount it behind captains chair, like tbully has on his R7. So, if you have platinum stereo and only 1 sub, get with dealer and get that 2nd one!!!

Anybody make any progress with their dealer getting the other sub installed? I haven’t heard back from my dealer yet but this has annoyed for sure!

Yes, Cobalt is paying for it. Dealer just confirmed with me this afternoon.

Good to hear. I agree that behind the captain’s chair is better. My dealer called Cobalt today. They said “opening up” the amp and increasing the gain will void the audio warranty. First, you shouldn’t have to “open up” the amplifier. That’s a pretty standard adjustment. Second, the dealer will continue to pressure Cobalt as I mentioned others have the same complaint

I called Roswell today. They returned my call but was too busy to pick up. I will try again tomorrow. I think the dealer is contacting them as well.

That’s great news. I’m going to follow up with my dealer tomorrow. Where behind the helm chair are you having it installed?

I stopped by my dealer today and after speaking to Cobalt, it looks like I do have a second sub but it’s hard to find (and even harder to hear). Mine isn’t in front of the helm but it’s under the helm seat. If you feel the box that houses the subwoofer (not the subwoofer itself or the grill, but the box or cabinet) in the storage compartment that houses the battery I have the same box under my helm seat. The only way I could feel it is to open the ski locker and there’s a small space that you should be able to fit our hand into. When I put my hand in there, I could feel the sub box. Check yours and let me know if you feel the same thing. Either way, the bass output is mediocre at best especially at low volumes.

Interesting, and here is the latest update from dealer I got in an email today.

"OK. Got a call this morning and they are still telling us your subwoofer is in there. If you do not want to do this we completely understand and will take care of it the next time you bring your boat in. They are telling us that in the ski locker on the driver’s side, there is a carpeted panel held in by 3 to 4 screws and your 2nd sub is behind this panel. They want us to remove it to confirm. Please let us know what you would like to do. Thanks and sorry for the runaround. Neil"

SOOOOO......it may seem to appear that it is supposed to be in ski locker, similar location to yours. I'll confirm next time I'm down at the boat.

Any luck talking to Roswell regarding amp adjustments?

Roswell did give me instructions to adjust the amp. Although he also mentioned it would void the warranty as it is set for the factory. I’m hoping it is the “top” amp in the stack, otherwise the top amp will have to be removed to get to the second/bottom unit.

I think we need to keep hammering Cobalt. My ‘17 with the premium setup sounded way better (bass-wise, anyway). I plan on trying this adjustment today as I brought the boat home last night. I still think this is Cobalt’s problem though. Technically, I think the Rockford isn’t driving the sub channel hard enough.
