Stereo volume control

Post by Norris_Boating »

I am curious if it is possible to get the radio to increase or decrease volume as we speed up and/or down. Thinking about this as I was pulling skiers this past weekend. It is kind of annoyingying to constantly change it when people fall. Seems like I am always late to turn it up, then it always seems to be between songs and I ended up up cranking it up way to loud.
I know cars have this ability to change volume as you change speed, wasn't sure about boats.
Anyone hear of this?

would be difficult to do I think. I do know having the remote right at the helm helps this tremendously. I have gotten used to just hitting pause on the remote, as I want to be able to speak to the person in the water after they fall.

While I agree that would be an awesome feature not sure how feasible it is to implement. I was thinking the same think this past weekend. I guess if you could have the volume tied to the throttle would be the only possible way. Anyone want to creat an aftermarket solution? I smell a real biz opportunity. 😁

If the new ski nautique can automatically turn on go pro recording once you hit 7mph I am sure its possible to also up the stereo volume based on boat speed. Don't think its a feature on any cobalt models though. Cool idea though.

I’d love that too. Can’t see why it can’t be done as it’s available on many cars nowadays.

On a BMW road bikes and Goldwings the volume increases as you speed up. It shouldn't be that big of a deal to install something I would think. I'm suprised it's not already offered and Cobalts, especially the surf boats.

I guess I just want to hear the kids in case something happens. Ive been dragged behind a boat skiing and noone paying attention in the boat. No fun and almost ripped my leg off.

In cars, it's a feature of the stereo which is wired into the car's speedometer feed to know how fast the car is going. With a boat, there's a good chance a car stereo mounted in the boat supports such a feature, but you'd have to provide a signal indicating water speed which would be the trick.

What it was tied to the engine RPMs instead of MPH?

Oh we got plenty of folks paying attention. Even clapping at times. Phase two of our stereo install will be to pump the music out to the kids on the toys!

I know it's just me. I want to hear what's going on. Heck I'm half dead from my younger years. Lol
I have nothing against it. It's like the stereo goes off when we go to dock.

Simple. String attached to throttle, wrapped around volume knob. Done. That'll be $80 please.
