Mooring Cover Options

I just got a CS22 and I got the bow and cockpit cover but not the mooring cover. I'm thinking even though it will be covered I still would be better off with one. It will be stored on the trailer in dry storage not on the water. Should I just go ahead and order the OEM Cobalt one or does anyone have recommendations for good aftermarket ones?

I would get the OEM cobalt one. they fit perfectly and from everyone I see on my dock with them. They are easy to put on. I wish I could still get one for my 262 but it isn't made anymore.

My dealer just quoted me $1,400 for the OEM cover. Does that sound about right? MSRP when ordered with the boat is only $1,174.

Ask your dealer to offer you the earlier price point. It’s parts that quotes retail.. It’s management that allows the discount.

It’s nice to have the OEM cover with the Cobalt logo. You’ll enjoy looking at it and forget you spent more!!

I agree with BBP especially being you already have the bow and cockpit covers. However, you'll be fine if you use the mooring cover for trailering. I leave mine on all the time with no issues. The ratchet straps make it a really tight fit with no flapping around.

I have no doubt that you could use the OEM for trailering. Mine fits tight and don't think there is anyway it would come loose. However, I have a fear of it rubbing and leaving a mark on the gel coat so I choose not to trailer with it.

Full mooring ( down the hull sides) turn into sandpaper when towing.

Definitely, the OEM was made by Commercial Sewing which is now Outer Armor.

I just got the oem mooring cover for my r3. They are spendy but worth it. I have the snap on covers as well and to be honest I hated them for trailering. The snaps would not stay on at 60-65 and pulled the snaps out of the gel coat s couple of times. The boat also never stayed dry. The oem cover tows like a dream. Above 15 mph the vacuum eff cst kicks in as advertised and never moves an inch. So far I have towed about 250 miles with it and there is not a single mark on my black hull. It takes about the same time to put t on as the snap cover—maybe even less with practice. I put it on while in the water this weekend and it wasn’t bad. Seems to keep the boat cleaner as well. Only thing I am going to watch is air movement—-need to make sure no mildew crops up. It also covers the entire swim platform. It’s a well thought out design (and I’m critical of most things)

I use mine year round for storage on the lift and so far (2 years) have had no mildew problems. Keep in mind that my climate is relatively dry, but if I remember correctly you're not too far away from me.
