I'm sorry, have I offended you? Your post seems like a bit of a slap down when all I'm trying to do is gain some knowledge here. As for the "power steering pump leak and vapour issues". The dealer picked up the boat Tuesday, replaced the pump and checked the fuel lines and tightened them, check the fluids, pressure washed the hull and it is on its way back to the slip now. I'll be back on it this evening.

It’s all good. I think if I was located in Ontario the boat would sell quickly, but where I am it might take a bit longer. I’ve found 4 new 2017/8 R3s for sale at dealers in Canada. All have 350 or 380 HP and Inthink I’d be OK with either. If a deal doesn’t come together, it’s OK, I’m getting a lot of enjoyment out of my 210.

Go 380hp if you can. The 350hp engine is a 5.3L Block, the 380hp 6.2L block is the better marine engine in my opinion. Waiting for Matt to chime in as he is an expert in all things with a cam shaft.

Ha. No expert but the 5.3 is actually more efficient in power per cubic inch. But the 6.2 has I feel a better package for higher sustainability in rpms that Boat engines run.

Ever take your daily driver down the freeway in 2 nd gear? 4000 rpm at 55?? For 30 minutes? Nope

Well thats what we do in our boats and they are the same engines ( well Volvo still uses GM platform. The merc is now changing) with valve trains designed for this crazy

6.2 for small blocks if possible would be a good option. You’ll be fine with either.

Look how good the 300hp versions work in the R3 as this thread was started.( were giving back soon I think )

Eh - does the V8 even really matter in tow weight? The engine sits so far back over the trailer axles that I doubt it would contribute to the tongue weight much if at all. Tongue weight and payload is where most people run out of towing capacity first.

My 2016 R3 WSS with a 350 Merc will run 52 MPH. 3 adults full take so I think the the 3 - 4 MPH estimate is pretty close. I wanted the extra MPH because I was upgrading from an 03 Crownline that will run 48 MPH and as vain as it may sound I wanted my new boat to run faster than my old boat. On a resale note I paid more for the used R3 with the 350 than I could have bought a similar R3 with a 300. Its not important to everyone but is was important to me.
