Hello everyone. We are Jim and Corina and we have just purchased our first boat and it's a 1990 Cobalt 263 with the Volvo Penta 7.4l. She sat in the water at the lake for 5 years hardly being used so we have some work ahead of us. By and large she is solid though. Here are some pics. We are located in the DFW area of Texas.

Welcome. At least it doesn't have a scum line!
Why is there a come along holding the transom?
Nice open exhaust.
Can't wait to see the family on the water having a blast on it.

Welcome again! I see you got some pics! and we will need to hear about it’s history. ( old and new.)

And what is the come along between the stern eyes? Did you remove something? Platform? Arch?

Time to retire the old thread.

Looking forward to hearing how you like her!!

Hey, a vintage 263. That’s a rare bird on this site.

You’ll have to post pics as you do some physical therapy on her.

Thx for starting out with some pics in an intro post. U da man!

Welcome aboard mate!

The come along is due to work being done. Once we started using her we lost the u-joint ballasts, the trim actuators and the hydraulic lines. Next up is the power steering cooler and carb adjustment on the low idle jets. After that, the paint buffed and restored, a bottom job and the interior of the cuddy being completely replaced.

Welcome Jim and Corina. I also live in the DFW area and am also a new member to this site. Good luck with your boat. I purchased my first Cobalt back in June. Your gonna enjoy that boat once you get her lake ready. What lake will you be running her on?

We love that kind of stuff. Be sure to take before and after pics. You can start a restoration thread in Older Boats and bring us along as you go!

Starting a thread and documenting everything you do will help when it comes time to sell. I know from first hand experience from a boat I did. Its great to be able to go back and see what all you did, then show a prospective buyer and how you can justify your price.
