Ha! Yeah, I'm going to do mine when it comes home for the winter, and not looking forward to it. It's a lot of work, and I can imagine 30 feet per side would wear you out. I always said doing my boat is like polishing the Vietnam War Memorial. That kind of work was sooo much easier when I was younger! But MAN your boat looks nice!
I always thought getting older would take a lot longer.

Re: That Legendary Cobalt Shine.
You guys are getting me little jealous with all these shiny Cobalts!
My boat is usually an in and out of the water boat, but last month i left it in the water at the marina. Took it out yesterday to clean it up as the end of season has reached us here in Michigan, and i noticed these little bumps...im assuming they are blisters? am i looking at a major issue here? im freaking out a tad here im not going to lie...
they are only on the bottom blue portion, only under the water line, only on one side of the boat...nothing on the white portion, i attached a picture to show how the boat sits.

Oh my that sucks. Yes blisters. What year is your boat. My buddies 226 did the same thing. The following spring they looked alot better though. So you plan on letting it sit in the water again next year? If so you may want to get in touch with Cobalt and your local fiberglass repair shop.

2003...i was planning to leave it in the water, without paint and every few weeks trips to take it in and out to clean it out...but if this is what the result is going to be, no way i am doing that...did your buddy fix his issue or just dealt with it? there is water in there right? will it freeze in the winter and crack?

In regard to your boat's case of the chicken pox, here is a good article by BoatSafe.....

Re: That Legendary Cobalt Shine.
IKR. I was going to risk slipping mine without bottom paint but don't want the dreaded pox. Hope you can get it sorted out. Do you have a local marina that does that kind of repair work?smokymance wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 1:48 pm Well, that article hits the nail in the head! Re: That Legendary Cobalt Shine.
When you say dreaded, is this pretty common or am i one of the few out there that got something that never really happens?
I dont really know who around here can fix it, doesn't sound like small job really! Sounds complicated!

Re: That Legendary Cobalt Shine.
I don't think I'd say it's common. But it is no stranger to the marine industry. Anything can be fixed with enough time and money of course. Just a matter of how much. I would start with your local marina and ask around about reputable fiberglass repair shops/individuals. Winter is a slow period in many areas and an ideal time to get that repaired. If you store it offsite for the winter like me, that could be a challenge.smokymance wrote: Mon Oct 15, 2018 2:07 pm When you say dreaded, is this pretty common or am i one of the few out there that got something that never really happens?

Re: That Legendary Cobalt Shine.
I had someone from the Cobalt factory repair some dock rash on my boat. He told me that Cobalt will not warranty hull blistering anymore without bottom paint. I know you aren't facing a warranty claim but just thought I would give you some food for thought. If you plan on leaving it in the water again next season.
