New Year's Resolutions--Do you? If so, what
So, I don't normally, but this year I have 3 and I will do my best to make them stick. Here they are.
1. I will be in the gym a minimum of 3 times a week.
2. I will not live in my current state at the end of the year
3. I will do my best to walk away from the internet for anything other than work. I am forced to use email and smartphones as we all are in work. Other than that, I will do my best not to spend any voluntary time on the internet.
So, with that, I have roughly 3 days left. Thanks to everyone who's given advice and all the laughs. Enjoy the boating season(s) and Happy New Year!

Myself.
1- start walking a few miles every day. Wife got us both fit bit watches so I guess she's telling us something. I just want to lose 15ish pounds. So I can ski and wakeboard. That's my only goal.
Sailor take care and good luck. on the no internet challenge.
2- try to meet up with as many CCers as possible

Not really a resolution, but rather a necessity.
40 lbs..
My daughter’s wedding, but more importantly, I need joint relief.
I go to a personal trainer three times a week, and have been doing that for 8 years. I feel pretty strong, but now my joints are getting beat up and I’m really feeling it now.

No internet? Cold Turkey? I get it - Katie and I both work in IT and we spend a ton of time on the internet. We made a single night a week "no device night" and we (I) have a hard time sticking to that. Think about all the quick things you use the internet for - just a few examples since I read this post:sailor55330 wrote: Sat Dec 29, 2018 11:26 am

"Hey Katie what is the weather looking like tomorrow?"
"Hmm what do we want to cook for new years dinner?"
"We should use our tax return to take a trip let me look at flights"
Good luck is all I have to say. Send a carrier pigeon BBP's way when you are ready to sell your boat he will respond /w an offer via smoke signals.

The wife and I have a no device at dinner rule. Wether we are eating at home or at a restaurant. Although I did just buy myself an Apple Watch so I guess I just found a way to cheat
Back to the topic on hand. I’m not a New Years resolution person. I think the whole new year new me thing is just setting yourself up for failure. I love watching all the people come to the gym for the first time in a year. Kill themselves trying to run on the treadmill or lift weights improperly and by February they are gone.
I personally let life get to busy in 2018 and by September had realized I had not worked out in 6 months and gained 25lbs. So I have been working on that since Labor Day. I’m down 20lbs since then and going to continue working at it in 2019.

Not really a resolution, but the wife and I are attempting to lose enough weight to not make our boat look like it has full ballast tanks cruising the lake.
Being in global IT, I would love to have no device nights, but I’m pretty much on call 24/7 supporting Asia and Europe...I avoide it as much as possible but my email literally never stops. This forum certainly hasn’t helped either, lol.

I don't like resolutions personally. Anything worth doing is worth doing whenever you decide it needs to be done. Anything that needs a reason like the 1st day of a new year is not worth doing. Probably not a popular opinion, but is my opinion anyway

Finish stuff, start nothing new. I'll save new for 2023.
Re: New Year's Resolutions--Do you? If so, what
Resolutions are easy to make, and usually last a week. That’s why they are considered a joke to everyone.
But..The new year is a perfect time to set a goal. Smoking, weight loss, be a more of a giving person etc.
The key is to understand that it’s a long process that takes daily attention to obtain.

Re: New Year's Resolutions--Do you? If so, what
Trying to plan right now how to spend more time on the water. You’d think since we are retired, that would be easy. But since our lake of choice is about 2.5 hours away, hard to do. One thing we plan on doing is getting the boat down to storage at the lake as early as possible. Like T & BBP, have to watch the weight. Since we spend good bit of time in Orange Beach, Al area, it’s easy to eat seafood & cold beer every night. Gained about 15 pounds last year. Lastly, walk, walk, walk. Still having tailbone problems. Good luck to all this year.

Re: New Year's Resolutions--Do you? If so, what
No real resolutions defined....I'm just going to continue doing what I do. The new kitchen is almost finished in the house. Then, after a short break I'll re-tile the entry, re-seal and refinish the front doors. By the time I finish that I can finish up the few things left on the boat. The one real goal is to get on the water more this year. And play more golf....
