Jello boats. That's how we say it down here..

I remember the Yugos coming through the car auctions back in the day. You couldn't give one away. Seems like, as much as a POS they are, they would still be worth something today just because. When was the last time you saw one? Most of them are the size of a 19" TV if they haven't already been melted.

Yes, even those have a following now. As jay Leno says, "cars don't lose value, you just sold too early"

I have a 2016 220 and my transom speakers were also Sony and all the interior speakers are JLs. I'm not sure why they did that. The JLs are great. I may look to switch out the transom speakers over the winter. The Sonys don't project out very well. I am also a little underwhelmed by the JL sub on the premium package.

Are your amps the standard fosgate r150x2 and r300x4? They did not put the marine amps in mine. The speakers and head unit are marine though.

They are JL marine amps. I have th JL M400/4 and M200/2. The head unit on my 2016 is a kicker media center. I had an issue with the head unit earlier this summer cutting out when I put down the throttle. Dealer swapped it out and no issues since then. This may be one of the reasons they went away from kicker in 2017.

I have the same problem I can't hear the stereo when I put the throttle down racing Nauti across the lake :-) and it's not because I hear her captains call either :-)
I thought that was a good thing :-)

Ok I wonder why they wouldn't use all JL?

I listened to the M series and less expensive MX series from JL Audio, and I’d get the MX770 over the M650 if it fit. Actually,I liked the sound of the MX650 over the more expensive M650 too. Still thinking about it as an upgrade for my boat, but the stock speakers just aren’t all that bad.

Did anyone get the premium audio upgrade with transom speakers the rockford fosgate. I added and dealer installed, it was like 1800.00. I noticed they put sony speakers in the transom, and did not use marine amps just the standard fosgate ones. I questioned them and they said it was what cobalt says is the option. Kind of hard to believe sony speakers with all other audio fosgate. And non marine amps. Anyone know if that's a load of b.s. I priced the amps and just rear speakers and I can get the amps and speakers for 320.00. I know they change out the head unit and 3 other sets of speakers and kept all the original components. I think I got taken
Did you change your transom speakers out? if so what did you go with. i am planning on adding some this off season. trying to decide what brand to go with.

I personally think you could add a professionally installed better system then what the factory offers. That way you pick the components and match them up.

I ordered the upgraded stereo on our R5 Surf a year ago knowing that it was likely overpriced and if I could do it again I'd wouldn't have ordered the upgrade. This spring I will be upgrading the speakers, amplifiers, and adding a free-air subwoofer. I'm also not a fan of the LCD display of the Rockford Fosgate head unit because it gets washed out from sunlight. I can live with that part of it because 95% of the time I'm using my phone to listen to play music.

I'll be damned....an old fart like yourself listening to Tool  Love that song and that band. Seen them a few times in concert....after the first time we saw them me and my buddies ears were ringing the entire next day. It was a smaller venue.

Anyway, I have the premium JL audio package in mine and i'm pretty pleased TBH. I'm not 100% sold on the sub though, but its not anything that I will look to replace anytime soon. I'd like to add some tower speakers at some point and that will likely round out the system this boat will ever have with me as its owner.

OK TR!
A Tool fan! 🤩 I freakin LOVE Tool..
I’m sure you know, It’s complicated musical art. Definitely can test out all parts of a sound system using Tool music, especially Jambi from 10,000 Days. That will find the weak spots. 🤣 Try “Reflection” from Lateralus to really test every level of any sound system. 🤯
