Stereo question for the experts

I had a Sony head unit with a 3.5 jack in the front that I could plug my Android into and it worked fine for Pandora, but I couldn't close the glove box door.

I was always worried someone would slam the door and snap the plug off, so I switched it out to a Sony marine MEX-M100BT and it works great for bluetooth.

I had the older style remotes hardwired in, but the prior owner replaced them with these.

So, depending on your setup, your options are:
1. Add Drillers gadget or something similar so you can gain BT capability, or
2. Switch your head unit that is compatible with your remotes, or
3. Install a Fusion head unit and remotes, but you may have to put in some sort of backing plate. Or get a new panel like AJ.

I have a greater chance at flying a helicopter successfully than I do trying to wire something. So my vote is you take it to a stereo shop.

Get a baddass head unit with matching remotes, six new speakers, at least 2 tower speakers (if not 4) at least one sub (if not 2) 3 new amps to power everything, and new wiring throughput because Cobalt installs puny wiring.

I upgraded our head unit last season to the Sony DSX-M55BT. We have 2 Sony remotes with the screen and after the upgrade, all buttons work but the screen is the only thing that does not work with the new head units. I feel I actually have more functionality out of the remote now as prior to the upgrade I would plug my phone in with the headphone jack and from the helm only have control of the volume. With the upgrade and now having bluetooth I can keep the phone next to me and control what I want. Also with the phone on bluetooth, I can use the remote to skip songs by pressing fast forward.

AJ the ones in the pics are what I have now, and everything functions as it should. Before it had the older style that looked like this. But these seem to have problems or full functionality with newer head units.

I upgraded my head unit to the same one YT did and love it. With the Bluetooth connectivity it works great with my iPhone. Also, with my Apple Watch I can control way more will swimming. Have controls on my arm are way better than any remote.
