OEM Flag Pole kits?

Post by ColinC »

Found some info on this supplier while on the FB Cobalt Boats page:

http://www.tigtechmarine.com/

It seems that Tig Tech was the original flagpole manufacturer for Cobalt. Tig Tech designed the pole in the late 90s. In 2012 Cobalt started having the poles made overseas and Tig Tech is quite open about this -- as this was posted on the Tig Tech FB page:

"Imitation, the old saying goes, is the purest form of flattery." Great to know since Cobalt reversed engineered our AMERICAN made flagpole and now has it imported from China...so imitate if you must...we know who designed and manufactures the original flagpole...we do!

Tig Tech poles are still made in USA (veteran owned Kansas company) and they now sell directly to dealers that still prefer the higher quality pole. Tig Tech also sells to individuals. I sent them an email this morning. Maybe a group buy?

Not sure if this is the Tig Tech pole or the overseas copy, but according to the review it is the same as the Cobalt product. Specs suggest it is very similar or identical. Priced at $160 for pole and base.

The second link seems to be at less of an angle to the hull? Both look pretty quality, in any event, and are way cheaper than ordering from Cobalt!

Yes when I checked on this at the dealer he wouldn't tell me who the company was. They still wanted over $350 for it. I just need the base so I sent Tig a email. Is the second one the same? The base looks a bit different? I'm also looking into a flag holder to install on my tower. That way the flag is out of my way. Good find Colin :-)

Wow. That's a quick response for a Sunday. I'm looking for the base and pole. Don't think they can hook me up with a Canadian flag though...

I just got the base to the cobalt flag. This way I can add the flag to what ever boat I get next or decide to keep. I have mine mounted to the tower right now that works real well. I have been talking to the the owner Wife Shauna which I believe this is a husband wife operation. She is great. They are Cobalt owners as well but not sure they would buy a new one from them due to cobalt buying the flag from China now. Maybe Malibu will add them to there boat as well and go back to buying them from the this company. Buying direct from them will save you a few bucks.

Man, that's good to know BB. Currently having dealer install this but if he has a hard time finding, I'll order and do it myself.
Thanks for the resource.

I've came across that same website, tig technologies, is this actually a trust worthy website, I have been emailing a Shauna Magennis and she seems very helpful. when I asked to buy she wanted to do through PayPal, it just seems kinda fishy to me, but I may be wrong.

Paypal is what I would WANT to use. At least you are protected somewhat.

I also posted some help under your other "flag pole" thread Cobaltboat246.

Anyone have a flag pole mounted on the stern of a 242? I would love to have one, but don't see a good level spot to mount it.
