Trim limit switch adjustment help

How do I raise the trim limit on my 2012 200? It’s to low and the skeg hits the ground when pulling up my driveway. Any video would help

Sorry but I’m assuming you’re finding the second stage of your switch. Trailer trimming allows the next raising level you would not use while running.
Merc? Volvo?
If there is no rocker switch separate on the dashboard or shifter that denotes “ trailer “ it’s possible you have a 2 detent switch. Possibly pushing harder engages it.
Pics may help or the other members will chime in if your not seeing it.
The adjustment should be done by the dealer as too much can contact the swim platforms etc.

CC, with your VolvoPenta set up, the trim switch on the throttle normally operates both ranges.....the range while underway and the increased ranged while trailering.

Your trim gauge will show you the position of the outdrive relative to full down. These can be adjusted but for the most part are pretty accurate. What does the needle on the trim gauge show with your outdrive raised fully?

My hunch is that the outdrive is already adjusted correctly. As was discussed in a prior thread, your skeg hitting the ground during trailering is most likely the culprit of the universal shorelander trailer that the seller put under it. This needs modified using brackets to raise the bunks....or you need another trailer that will accomplish the same purpose.

I tend to agree - based on your previous post it's most likely the trailer but....

Our trim switch has two stages. First raises the trim up to the max you would really want while you are on the water. If you push in a bit harder the switch will let you raise the trim all the way up to where the lower needs to be to trailer the boat. Took me a minute to figure it out the first time...

It's a Volvo so only 1 switch. A8 is correct. More of a trailer issue then a drive issue. From the picture in the other thread it looks like it's all the way up. The switches are on the side of the drive. Some have some adjustment in them and others don't. If you loosen the screw it may rotate some. I'll have to check the Manual. I've never had to touch a Volvo one except to replace it because the guage didn't read. That one is in the starboard side.

First let me say you guys are awesome as I am a newbie. I did get another trailer this one has 14 inch wheels on it I doubled up the bunks with 2 2x6s And it still too low. It looks like I have room for it to go up a little bit more without hitting the swim platform. It is a Volvo Penta so I will try and look at the gauges and push the trim button harder to see if it goes up more. A guy at the boat shop said that it is only halfway up

I've never had any issues with any of my boats. Those are further away then they may look.

Hey BB. Just some clarifications... There are some versions of Volvo that has a trailer button 2nd switch. They use a control box in between the trim switch and the hydraulic drive pump. The sensor on the side of the outdrive that you are referencing would wire into that control box and it does need to be adjusted correctly.

If you have a single switch style, there is no control box and the ONLY thing that the sensor on the side of the drive affects is the reading on your guage. Adjusting it will have no impact on how high or low your drive goes, only what the gauge reads.

I will add one other possibility. If you drive starts high when you leave the water (trimmed all the way to its limit) and then lowers a little on its way home when it rubs the driveway, then you may need to rebuild your piston seals. I realize this is unlikely, but if you have reason to believe that your drive is not fully raised when you're traversing your driveway, I thought I'd put it out there.

Thanks guys. I’ll keep u posted when I get back home this weekend. It looks like there is space for it to go higher without hitting the swim platform. Not much, but some. It may have dropped a little in diving it 300 miles to home. And I will have to try and see if i can push the up trim button a second time to go beyond the current stop. And I will check and see where the gauge is. I can’t wait to get on the water with it. It’s currently getting some of the scratches buffed our and hit is that red pretty.
