Fantastic site...additional features?

Hey,

I just want to mention how easy this site is to navigate. Thank you to all who put in the efforts. Especially how easy it is to upload pics from either a computer or a tablet. Thank you!!!!

A couple of questions.

1. Is there any way to have a "thank" button over someone's thread? I know on the other forums it's great to acknowledge someone or just "thank" them for their post. After clicking the thank button, it will show at the bottom of the post who found that post incredibly useful.

2. Have any awards been discussed for members on the forum? Virtual medals are another great item that encourages posting. For instance, BigBlock for his many useful posts could be nominated for the "Major Site contributor" award. The medal would go next to his Avatar. Other examples may be "most giving"; "most welcoming to new members" ; "mod expert"; "great lakes experienced" etc...etc..

3. Lastly, a live "chat" session (hey it is cobaltchat.com) in the right corner is VERY effective for site participation. Only members who are logged in can use it but it's great for quick topics of all sorts and again encourages a high rate of site participation from members. On my other forums, it's the number one used item as guys and gals wake up...say hello to each other as they drink their coffee...discuss the events of the day..or just rap about Cobalt.

Just a thought. Certainly do not want to step on any toes. In fact, you may have some of these features already and I'm just missing them. In any event, what you have accomplished thus far is fantastic. I have some other ideas like an Ebay link that you click on and anything Cobalt boat related pops up.

Feel free to flame me or tell me to go color in the corner. If I could write code I would certainly help make it happen. However, I can fly airplanes and if that helps in anyway, I'm in!

Anyways, here is a small example of the chat session from an audiophile site to which I belong. It shows in the right corner.

Interesting - one of their linked forums runs the same forum software (an older version of PHPBB than we have) on one forum (http://www.carveraudio.com/phpBB3/index.php), but YAF on another (the one you've shown in the image).

I've thought of adding other content such as a blog or a Wiki on Cobalt boats, but those seem less valuable than a chat space to ask, share, and archive information.

I'm unlikely to switch the forum software as I find PHPBB more readable, but adding features such as a "thank" button might be in the cards. I'll keep an eye on what's available,

Been looking for a site like this and finally found her. Your hard work is paying off.

Funny thing is, we on the Carver audiophile site are in the process of getting out of that older code format. We are experiencing random site crashes and it is certainly not as user friendly with mobile devices like Cobaltchat.com is.

Thank you for a possible "thank" button too. I would click it on yours right now if I could!

And I'll mention again, having that live "chat" room is what separates our audio site from so many others. It is quite an active site IMHO because of that. But. If you have to change to a whole nutha' coding format, well just disregard this.

OK, click on mchat on the ribbon bar at the top (just under the boat image at the top) to get to a dedicated chat page. We'll see how this works...

That is a great start John. Would love to see it live while my active topics page is up but hey, we can work on the details later.

Now to direct the members to click on "mchat" at the top of the page.

Such a great site john....your hard work is certainly paying off.

Btw, I know folks here are also on thehulltruth.com website since I recognize some of the usernames.

Had my dad put in a plug over there as well for cobaltchat.com

A site like this with great folks is such a blessing.
