Hello from Knoxville, Tn

Post by Vickitn »

Ordered a new Cobalt last fall. Picked up our new R5 Saturday. She is equipped with the Volvo Penta V8-350.
White folding arch with Bimini
Tonneau covers
Transit remote
Docking lights
Soft track mat for swim platform
Umbrella
Air compressor
Bow center cushion
Dinette table
Sea grass floor
Head pump out
Battery switch, dual
Rear view driver mirror & tool kit

We have owned several boats over the years, most recently Four Winns. Got interested in Cobalt when we saw one at our neighbors dock. We boat mostly at Tellico Lake and Fort Loudon Lake with friends and five grandkids. Got to spend some time trying her out on Sunday and loved how she handled and how quick she planed. Looking forward to the summer. I have enjoyed reading the forum so thought it was time to contribute my part.

Hey Vickitn, welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us (even if it was back in September). :D

Great pics and intro post Thank you. Four Winns makes a nice boat too. Feel free to post a pic of that too. :D You will definitely enjoy the Cobalt upgrade. Great color combo. One of my faves. Now go clean those trailer tires. ;)

...and welcome aboard mate!

Welcome. Perfect package. I would have powered it the same way. No need for anything more. 380 would have been a waste 😂😂😂

Well, thanks for your thought. Had a little nagging in the back of my mind about that. In my brief experience with her it seems I will have plenty of power for our use.

Actually, a trip to Norris from our home in Columbus, Ohio is what landed us in East Tennessee. Loved the mountains and lakes. Norris is a great place to boat, but we tend to stay on Tellico.

Welcome from California!
Beautiful looking R series! So now that you frequent lakes that are touching almost. Which of the two has the waterfront nightlife and fun eateries.. boozeries ( is that a word??🤣 ) and lakefront homes that make a California guy want to move?
My sister lives in Georgia so I’m gonna tour Knoxville this year.

The two “lakes “ do touch. The are both part of the Tennessee River. Tellico is what resulted from daming up the Little Tennessee and it flows into Fort Loudon, which is a section of the river. These waters are managed by the TVA which supplies electricity to 8 states. I’m not much help on the nightlife question. There are a variety of marinas and restaurants though. There are homes over the entire system, but Tellico has lots of nice homes and lots of folks from California bought lots there after a big
sales campaign that targeted California a few years ago.
You can boat from Tellico to downtown Knowville in an hour or so depending on conditions.
