300 hours - recommended service items

Post by TwoBurgers »

Hi Gents,
I just hit 300 hours on my '13 232 w/ a Merc 350 Mag MPI and a B3 drive. Note this year was the first for catalytic converters (no problems so far). I winterize, change the oil/filter and drive lube yearly myself. So far, I replaced the impeller at around 150 hours, the fuel filter around that time as well, and had the drive alignment checked at around 50 hours.
I know the impeller and fuel filter need replacement. What are your opinions on the plugs, belt and anything else I should consider?
The motor starts consistently every year and I hit my noted top speed of 51.7ish every time I air it out. I only run the boat in fresh water. I use Merc oil filters, and either Amsoil or Mobil 1. I use the HD Merc gear lube. I run premium auto fuel most of the season, and ethanol free premium treated with Stabil at the end of the season.
I appreciate the shared wisdom.
Thanks,
Chris

Burn a candle next to her as your doing great.!
Let’s get the impeller every 2 yrs or 50 hrs ( which ever comes first) as the cavitation that gets started with grooves in the pump are typical with mercury.
Your at 5 years so it’s time to plan on the rubber products such as hoses and belts as they are at the end of there shelf life in age not hours.
Inspect yearly all ignition coil packs for corrosion and possibly add your tune up as well.

Your doing right with engine alignment because things change and that takes a toll on drive components.

Carry on pal! Have a great summer!

I would say yes change the spark plugs. 5 years and 300 hours. Don't fidgety the iac filter. Cool fuel filter if it has one.

I know your friend. 16 years old and 250 hours also. My plugs were Changed at some point. They looked new last year. Just keep plugging away at her. Yes the drive should come off soon. Then I'm sure the bellows will need to be done. And so on and so on.
