Swim Platform lights

Post by Southerncomfort »

Before I even ask this I know I am going to get the "call the dealer response" but I don't want to and I prefer reaching out to this group.

So I know having swim platform lights is an option on my 2011 (that I don't have), I am looking to add it to the boat as the switch and wiring is already run. What I am trying to figure out is what are the parts\lights that I make up this option? More importantly where can I get them or should I get them.

Just to clarify not talking about the underwater lights, that will be next months project that I will ask ;) , Just talking about the swim platform.

Also, if someone has them on there boat would be interested to know how many are across the swim platform and if you have a picture looking up at them under the platform even better.

Since I am going to be cutting fiberglass want to make sure I space them like they were installed by the factory.

Boy I'll find sliderules fix up thread. He added them to his boat. The lights can be found. I was going to add them for no reason other than to have them but I didn't fill like drilling 6 or so holes.

If you're going to do it yourself and you're not interested in getting the dealer parts why not find some lights you like and make it unique? You can still use the factory harness, just get some trick housings.

I think there are three on my 2011 242. I'll try and check and get a photo over the next couple of days.

Driller - Appreciate that, three seems to make sense based on the reflections on the photos i have seen. Shockingly not many people take photos up at their swim platform.

Found this photo. Don't worry about the underwater. You can clearly see the swim platform lights. Three of them.

I have 3 on my 2012 262. Also a question, I noticed my middle light is disconnected. How do you get to it to reconnect? Any tips?

Likely the blue is burned out. All three operate on the same circuit with all the interior courtesy lights.

Driller thanks for sending the photo. Definitely will help when I install this fall. I think three will go great.

Just need to figure out which ones I am going to buy.

Also, what underwater lights did you use? I am planning on going with three of these blue and white ones.

Lumitec SeaBlazeX LED Underwater Boat Light, Surface Mount, Strobe, Cross Fade

So my project list is getting pretty large already for this fall and winter:

Boat:
1. Add Platform lights (3x)

2. Add underwater lights (3x)

3. Add Lenco Heavy duty Trim tabs (need to measure to confirm the size)

https://www.starmarinedepot.com/lenco-t ... tBEALw_wcB

4. Replace Sony headunit and remote with Rockford Fosgate headunit and remotes (Previous owner had newer Sony headunit put in and it is not compatible with Sony remote(RM-X60M) and will not show anything, buttons work just can't see what you are doing)

5. replace Carpets in boat with new carpet or seagrass...not sure on that one.

Trailer:
1. Replace all brake lines with steel lines, the rubber ones are failing apart:

https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-an ... 6-253.html

2. Add disc brake to front axle of trailer

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes ... 35DKG.html

3. Re-carpet bunks on trailer.

Geez this list just keep getting longer every time I think about it.

No the pigtail is disconnected for the middle light. Using my phone camera I can slide the phone into the space just enough to see the molded connectors separate. It just needs to be reconnected but I can’t get my hands in the space. Very little opening - marked with red arrow in first pic.

Separated wire connectors in second pic.

Thinking maybe I can take the light out from the swim platform side and extend the wires or maybe get the harness side fished through the light hole and make the connection again but wanting to see if anyone had dealt with this before and had a tip. I took the panel off where the power connectors are but arm isn’t long enough. Not worth cutting fiberglass out.

You could anyways take off the stainless rubrail and remove all of the screws around the boat and lift up the upper half of the deck. Sorry good luck on that one. Use a grabber/pincher tool.

Southerncomfort - I am looking to add trim tabs to my 242 as well to help with keep weight in the bow as the water on lake tahoe gets very rough. Do you have any pictures of your final install? What size did you install and what kit?

Thanks

So glad you found us T242.

We added electric Bennett trim tabs to our 262. I can highly recommend that route.

Any pics?

And welcome aboard mate.

If you have extra weight in your bow, trim tabs are not going to help you.
